I stood there, bound and speechless.
“I’m. . .falling in love with you, Mariah.”
Holy shit.
I couldn’t stop looking at him. The intensity of his feelings poured over me in a torrent of emotion. In that moment, I ignored logic. Sure he was dangerous and I had just met him, but. . .I was falling too.
That reality crashed over my mind, body, and soul. My vision dimmed and my heart stopped, as if crushed by the weight of it all.
Those ice cold eyes of his. . .warmed. “Mariah. . .”
A swirl of emotion swirled through my chest, every fiber of my being ached for him.
I swallowed. “I. . .feel the same way.”
That wicked grin spread on his face. “Do you now?”
He wrapped his arms around me and kissed me with a fierceness. We lost ourselves in each other, finding only love and need.
And I knew without a doubt that I was his.
He pulled away. “Tell me.”
I panted. “Tell you what?”
“Tell me that you’ll stay here with me. Regardless of the number of days. Regardless of rationale. Regardless of your feelings. Regardless of everything.”
My heart hammered in my chest. “I want to say yes. I’m just scared. This is a big step.”
“Big or small step. You’re mine. I won’t let you go.” He slipped his hand over my clit, his finger touching me just enough to drive me insane. “I would rather you want to be here, but I’ll keep you regardless.”
I writhed in desire. “Gabriel, you can’t say it that way.”
“Why not?” He moved his finger.
“Because I want to be with someone who loves and treats me like a gentleman. Which means. . .no kidnapping.”
“Due to my life,” He gave me a sad smile. “I might be hard to love—”
“Don’t say that.”
“There is truth to that statement, Mariah, but. . .I promise to do my best to love you the way you deserve.”
“Okay.” I let out a long breath. “Then, I will think about your proposal.”
The wicked grin deepened. He toyed with my clit. “Think about it?”
I moaned.
Then something unexpected happened.
A sudden violent explosion shook the concrete walls and foundation. Next, the fierce noise of gunshots echoed.
Gabriel gritted his teeth. “Savio.”
I heard men shouting.
“What the fuck?!” Fast, Gabriel spun around. “No! Not now! Not here!”
My body went tight with terror.
Another explosion rocked the foundation. Cracks appeared in the walls surrounding us.
“Goddamn it! Not now!” Gabriel grabbed his robe and threw it on his body. “You will be safe down here. No one knows about this place, but Dog and me—”
“You have to untie me.”
“I will.” He ran to the wall across from me and pressed a button. A panel slid open, revealing a whole arsenal of weapons. Guns, knives, and other instruments of violence gleaned under the dim lighting.
Another boom came.
The lights flickered in the sex dungeon.
He took out an Ak-47 and a large knife. Hurrying back to me, he sliced through the ropes binding my wrists.
My hands were now free.
Piercing screams and howls rose above us.
The roar of gun fighting came next.
“Savio thinks he can bring this to my home and around you? There will be no mercy when I kill him.”
My body shook in fear.
Gabriel gave me the knife. “Free yourself and stay down here. Do not go up there. Do you understand?”
“Y-yes.” I bent over and cut at the ropes on my ankles.
“I can’t let anything happen to you, Mariah. Remain safe.”
“I will, but you remain safe too.”
“I will. It’s just another day of blood and death.” He rushed up the stairs.
Next, I heard a slam and then complete silence, knowing he had closed the secret wall and locked me in the sex dungeon.
So much panic hit me.
Will he be okay?
I put my attention on cutting the rope.
Sheer terror burst through me. Soon, I had my ankles and the rest of my body free from the orgasm tower. I rushed to put on my robe.
Heart booming in my ears, I headed over to Gabriel’s wall of weapons.
When I started working at the brothel, my father bought me a SIG Sauer P238. The small, light-weight weapon had a classic style and was chambered for .380 ACP. The short barrel was barely three inches.
Father took me to the gun range on my days off, showing me how to clean and shoot it.
I was not excited about having a gun and never wanted to be in a situation where I had to use one. Still, I kept the little gun in my purse on the days I went to work.
Of course, Gabriel didn’t have anything small like my gun.
However, I found a Glock 19. My father had two of these 9mm handguns. I’d shot them a few times at the gun range.
I grabbed one. It weighed heavy in my hands. The barrel was over four inches. My fingers shook as I checked to see if it was loaded.
