“You’re so fucking smart,” Clay whispers next to my ear and reaches for the soft blanket. My mate covers me and then slips his hand under the blanket.
I find it hard not to groan loudly as he throws himself into pleasuring me. My mate does an excellent job, and two hours fly by in the blink of an eye.
I glance down at my watch and see we should be landing in about an hour. “Tell me about your polar bear cousins.” I need something to distract me from the bumpy ride.
Clay leans his head back against the airline seat and explains mentally. “Uncle George, my dad’s youngest brother, married a polar bear from Glacier Pass. Polar bear DNA is stronger than grizzly DNA, so there’s a greater chance of having polar bear cubs. Aunt Tilly and Uncle George ended up with three male polar bear cubs and one female grizzly cub. The oldest two are twins. Gabe is the oldest, then comes Grant. Next is Gianna, and Dillon is the youngest.”
“Are polar bear shifters a lot like grizzly shifters?” I know it’s a crazy question, but my entire life has taken a turn for the unbelievable since I met Clay Bearly.
“Similar but not exactly the same. Those crazy fuckers love the cold. My dumbass cousins actually look forward to the cold ass winter months. Glacier Pass has six months of intense winter, three months of colder-than-a-well-digger’s-ass weather, and three more months of chilly-as-hell weather. They have very few warm days, and those dumbasses love it. They go swimming in the icy, frigid lake at least once a day to cool off.”
The pilot announces we’re about to land, and I grab Clay's hand to soothe my nerves. As the plane taxies down the runway, I take a deep breath and blow it out, feeling relief flow through me. I glance out the window and find everything covered in a white blanket of snow. Yikes. I knew it would be cold, but I didn’t realize Glacier Pass would be covered in several feet of snow.
“How beautiful.” I snuggle against my mate. “But you’re going to have to keep me warm.” I wiggle my eyebrows and watch a flame burst to life in his dark eyes.
“Fuck. It’s going to be a long day. I hope you rest up today because I’m going to keep you up all night.”
I’m one lucky girl.
We’re waiting at the luggage carousel when an insanely hot, dark-haired giant walks up and slaps Clay on the back. “I’m glad you made it.” I glance way the heck up and feel my mouth drop open. The grizzly Bearly brothers are tall and muscular, but they are tiny compared to their polar bear cousins. “This must be Bethany.” He reaches out to shake my hand, but Clay growls and steps between us before our palms meet.
“Dillon, keep your fucking hands off my mate,” Lucky Bear growls, and the hair on the back of my neck stands up straight as hunger roars through me. I’m not sure where this new, overly intense desire for my mate is coming from, but I’m a little embarrassed to be walking around all hot and bothered in a town full of shifters who can smell my emotions.
“You’ve always been shitty at sharing.” Dillon winks at me. “How in the world did an ugly old asshole like you manage to find such a beautiful mate?”
“I’m not divulging my secrets.” Clay laughs and hugs his cousin as the air around us lightens. “Thanks for meeting us.”
“Anytime.” The two shifters grab our bags, and Dillon smirks. “The cabin is all ready for you, but you’ll have to hurry and get settled in. Mom is cooking enough food for an army. Surprise. You get to spend your first evening in Glacier Pass at a family dinner surrounded by your nosy relatives instead of staying in the cozy cabin with your mate.”
“And you’re not getting any pleasure at all from my suffering,” Clay mutters back.
“Not a lick.” Dillon shrugs unapologetically. “It’ll be the highlight of my week.”
My mate insists I sit in the front seat of Dillon’s massive four-wheel drive SUV. The entire twenty-minute ride along snow-packed roads, my mate sits behind me and softly runs his hand along my neck. His soft touch turns me into a hot and bothered mess, and I’m ready to jump his bones the minute we step into the small, adorable cabin.
“Thanks for dropping us off.” Clay shows his cousin the door once they unload the SUV.
“No problem.” Dillon isn’t offended by his abrupt dismissal. “One of my SUVs is in the garage. I hung the keys on the rack next to the door. Just remember I’m going to take the cost out of your hide if you wreck my vehicle.”
“You can try.” Clay slams the door in his face and turns to me. “Alone at last.”
