I nod. “Nothing would make me happier.”

He drops a quick kiss to my lips, and I know that in any other situation, his lips would have lingered on mine and really soaked in the moment, but not here and not now. We have a son to find.

With that, we prepare for battle.

Our small, lethal group makes its move, creeping through the estate like ghosts, wildly slaughtering every damn person who stands in our way. One by one, bodies drop without even the slightest hesitation on our part, and before I know it, we’re creeping up to the fourth floor.

A chill sails straight down my spine, and I know that whatever we’re about to walk into is exactly what we’ve been waiting for. Dill and Doe push ahead, creeping low like the ferocious hunters they are, and I know without question they’ve picked up Sebastian’s scent as well as his fear.

Roman releases my hand but stays close to my right while Levi creeps into the space on my left, Marcus and New Guy crowd me from behind, always having my back and keeping me protected.

We reach the landing and the subtle growls rumbling through the wolves’ chests put me on edge. My hands shake, and I know Levi sees it as he inches closer. “We got this, Shayne. We’re getting him back.”

“The question is, what state will I get him back in?” I murmur, my voice barely audible as we move through the fourth floor. “If we’re too slow . . . fuck.”

“That’s not going to happen,” Marcus says from behind, our sweet baby girl clutched firmly in his arm, holding her against his chest while he palms a knife with his other hand. If anybody can go into battle while holding a newborn, barely minutes old, it’s Marcus DeAngelis.

“We’re bringing our boy home,” Roman states, his tone not leaving room for question. He says it as though it’s fact, and fuck, that arrogant confidence goes a long way in easing my fears.

We’re getting our son back. No matter what.

Sirens sound far in the distance, and I know that has everything to do with Agent Davidson. He’s given us the time we need, and now that time is running out. We have minutes, if not seconds to get this done and get out of here with our two children, our wolves, and our men.

The screams from the battle of the guards outside the property are haunting, but I block them out as Roman glances down at me, and I try to concentrate on the subtle voices coming from the next room. “Let’s do this.”

We storm the fourth floor, thundering through the estate like a fucking nightmare raising the dead. The room is full of guards acting as an outer circle, protecting the Dragoni nephews within while Surgei Dragoni stands at the very back of the room, a smug-as-fuck grin on his face as he holds my son before him, a blade pressed against his throat.

The fear in Sebastian’s eyes stops me dead in my tracks as the boys battle it out around me, not one of them daring to stop as they slice through the Dragoni guards like butter. Yet all I can do is hold Sebastian’s stare.

“Mommy,” he whimpers, my heart shattering into a million pieces as the battle fades from existence around me, the cries of my new daughter barely audible over the heavy thumping of my pulse in my ears.

My hands shake violently at my sides, and after taking one look at Surgei Dragoni, I know without a doubt that he won’t hesitate to end my son’s life. Hell, the only reason he hasn’t done it yet is because he wants a fucking audience for it. He wants to make a point that he’s not afraid of the DeAngelis and Moretti legacies. He wants to make his stand, and in order to do that, he’s going to slaughter my baby boy right here in front of my eyes.

The only problem is, the little boy in his arms is not the innocent little angel he thought he was getting. He’s a devil just like his daddy, a wicked demon just like his uncles, and they’ve trained him well.

The boys quickly break through the wall of guards, the grunts and groans sounding through the room as the sirens in the distance get closer by the second.

Blood splatters left and right as Dill and Doe stalk through the room, their sharp gazes locked on Surgei Dragoni like he’s their next meal.

“You made a mistake,” I tell Surgei as his nephews stand on either side of him, somehow thinking they’ve got the upper hand here.

My voice is soft but firm, and despite the war raging around me, I know Surgei takes in my every word. Hell, he’d be stupid not to. He couldn’t possibly think that the four of us made it this far on nothing but luck. We worked for this, and the boys sure as fuck earned it. Nobody has earned it more than them, and they’re sure as fuck not about to let us take a hit now.
