“Honey, there just might be grandkids in our future after all.” Dad laughs.

“O-kay. On that note, I’m going to head upstairs and grab a shower.” I try to pull out of Eli’s arms, but he won’t let me.

“Pack a bag,” he says, his voice low, only for me to hear.

“Yes, dear,” I say sweetly, making my parents and Eli erupt in laughter. Shaking my head, I am finally able to pull away to go get ready.

Once I reach my room, I grab my clothes for today and take the time to do as I was told, and pack a bag for tonight. I don’t include clothes for work on Monday. I might regret it later, but it’s a sure-fire way to make me leave him. To come home and reflect on the changes between us. Who knows, it’s possible that by tomorrow I’ll be sick of him and ready to come home anyway. This gives me an easy out. It’s not that I’m looking for easy, but I know there is a lot at stake here with Cam and Eli’s friendship. I can’t help but keep that in the back of my mind. I want to believe him that this is the real deal, but it’s hard to forget the pain from the past. I’m trying to think with my head and not my heart because my heart is already telling me that we could fall for him.

Chapter 11

Eli

“Mr. Morrison, Miss Smith to see you,” Jane says through the speaker on my phone, bringing an instant smile to my face.

“Please send her in.”

It’s been two weeks since the night I found Marley still working in her office, and we decided to give us a go. Even though we’ve spent nearly every free moment together since, she still insists we not flaunt our relationship at work. There’s been a lot of grumbling on my part, mostly because I can’t keep my hands off her. I’d also rather shout the status of our relationship from the rooftop than keep it quiet, but I respect the position she’s in at work and understand her reasoning behind it. I’ll play nice.

For now.

I hop up and approach the office door just as it opens. There stands the most gorgeous woman in a business suit, looking as professional as she is edible. I move straight past her and make sure the door is secured, flipping the lock to ensure our privacy.

“Mr. Morrison, I have the mockups for the new social media ads we discussed last week,” Marley states, her focus locked on the folder in her hand.

I grab the folder from her hands and toss it on the desk before spinning her around in my arms and plastering a hard kiss on her lips. “I’ve been dying to do that all day,” I state, tracing my lips down the column of her neck.

“All day? It’s ten in the morning,” she informs. “And I stayed with you last night. You literally walked me to my office two hours ago and kissed me soundly behind my door.”

I shrug as my hands trace and memorize the curves of her body. “Feels like forever ago. I’ve been hard ever since I left your office.”

“Did you have an eight fifteen with Chuck?”

I pause and glance down at her smiling face. “Yeah, I definitely wasn’t hard when he was here, but I got all sorts of excited when Jane told me you were here.”

“We need to approve those ads,” she states, wrapping her arms around my waist.

“We do. Later.” Then I kiss her again, slowly, the way she likes it. Hell, there’s not much my girl doesn’t like. She’s eager and energetic, both in bed and out of it, but that’s not the reason I’m so damn attracted to her. She’s fucking brilliant in her position. She’s taken our social media presence to a whole new level, and though I don’t consider myself old at twenty-seven, I just didn’t see the value in it at first. Until now.

Not to mention, our website is getting more hits and reservations are up across the board for all sites. We make a damn good team, and I’m so thankful Marley was the one who was hired to fill the vacancy left by the previous marketing director.

Speaking of, Jeanie has been seen twice in the lounge downstairs this week alone. Even though she’s a former employee, she’s not doing anything wrong by having a drink in the small restaurant. HR escorted her from the premises but didn’t ban her. They had no reason to. Yet, I can’t stop wondering why she’s hanging around here.

“Do you have plans later?” I ask, looking to get my mind away from the email I had from our head of security this morning.

“Laundry. I’ve been spending too much time with this guy I’m seeing and am running out of clean underwear.”
