Maybe it was that hidden part that drew his attention. Or maybe it was Tam’s amazing body.

His legs looked so damn long in those heels, especially when he’d bowed over the table at a perfect ninety-degree angle to break. And the way his ass wiggled before each shot—well, it wasn’t the first time that night that Driver had to swallow a moan because...damn. He still remembered the way that ass fit in the palms of his hands. Absolutely fucking perfect. Like it was made to be there and nowhere else.

Just thinking about it made his fingers twitch to hold on. The way Tam bit his lip as he concentrated on the next move just about killed Driver right there on the spot. Then that intriguing fucking crease appeared between Tam’s brows as he studied the table.

Driver took the bait. “Shoot from here and aim for the red.” He came up behind Tam, adjusting his position. “See?”

Tam nodded, but stood stiff.

“If you make a circle with your finger and thumb, you’ll have better aim and more control,” Driver said. One hand on Tam’s hip, he leaned in close enough that his breath would fan Tam’s cheek. “Then you guide your shot.”

Together they bent over the table, pulled the cue back and then pushed it forward again. The ball shot out, just not quite hard enough. It tapped the red solid but barely moved it an inch.

Driver backed off. “Try again. Harder this time.” And yes, he intentionally colored his tone with innuendo, not that Tam noticed. Or maybe he did, if the flutter of his eyelashes or that addicting pout meant anything.

Carefully, Tam took aim. Turtle-slow. In fact, Mikey might be insulted at the comparison, but Tam was completely focused. At this rate, it’d be sunrise before they finished the first game, but Driver didn’t give two fucks. He was having too much fun watching the way Tam’s face scrunched up. Not to mention the thrill of having Tam’s timid flirtations directed at him.

Made him feel like a god among men. Or a conqueror.

This time the balls cracked loud and scattered over the green felt with the red falling into the center pocket.

“Well done.” Driver leaned on his pool stick and smiled at Tam’s ecstatic expression.

“I keep going, right?”

“Yep, until you miss. Then prepare to have your butt whipped.”

Instead of laughing like Driver had intended, Tam licked his lips, gaze zeroing in on his cocktail. He crossed to where he’d left it and chugged until the glass was empty. Then he set it down and turned to Driver.

“We’ll see whose butt is in danger tonight.”

Hell, Driver liked feisty Tam. Even if he’d needed liquid courage to get there, it was an intriguing mix of sexy and cute that could quickly become addicting.

“Let’s see what you got.” Driver waved at the table in challenge, then found a spot with the best view because he didn’t want to miss a single moment of Tam’s performance. And he made no secret out of his perusal either. Tam had issued the dare, no way was Driver hiding his lust now. What would Tam do when he realized just how much Driver wanted him?

Wouldn’t it be fun to find out?

* * *

The seduction was slow. It started as soon as Tam opened the door to find Driver waiting for him, hair mussed, five o’clock shadow manicured, wearing a leather jacket over a T-shirt tight enough to show off his pecs.

Each casual brush of their bodies was a calculated advance toward the ultimate goal and it worked. Little by little, Driver wore him down.

It wasn’t just feeling the rush of guilt-free arousal for the first time in his life. It wasn’t just the bone-deep comfort that came from being near Driver. Or the way Driver leaned in close every chance he got, focused and intense. It was the scent of him. The magical way he put Tam at ease, like it was nothing. Creating a safe space where Tam could be himself without even trying to, because that’s just who he was.

Driver was safe.

Driver was also trouble.

A contradiction that aroused more than Tam’s curiosity.

Really, he should have seen the signs sooner, but he’d been caught up in the newness of it. Brave enough to flirt without fear of consequences and filled with the thrill of it all.

Each random caress Driver whispered over his skin as they played pool was a drug. Instantly addicting enough that Tam began to seek them out. Hell, he was even pretending he didn’t know the rules of the game.

“How long have you been playing pool?” Tam asked between shots.

“Since I was seventeen, I think. My grandfather taught me, then I started hustling on the road but when that ended badly once, I stopped. I played professionally a few times but it required too much commitment, which sounds odd since it’s a bar game, right? But for competitions and stuff you have to schedule way in advance if you want a real shot at the big prizes. I never had that kind of foresight.”
