The guy winced, knowing the trauma he was causing. He met my gaze, and I nodded.
“Finish it,” I said. “Your end will be up to Sting.”
He nodded. “He would… he would cut the women he was given in shallow cuts, like she said. When he did, he’d…” He cleared his throat. “He’d play with them. Said he liked the feel of blood making his body and that of the women slide together. The more blood, the better. When the women got close to dying, he’d cut a major artery and cover himself in the blood as he held the girl until she bled out.”
“Where is he?” This was Sting’s room, but I couldn’t help making the demand.
“Dead.” The guy nodded toward the Cannibal. “He…”
“Oh, God.” Winter was visibly trembling now. I thought it was telling that the usually unflappable Winter had deferred to her sister. This guy spooked Winter something fierce. Serelda, however, hid her emotions.
When I’d first met these women, they were meek and submissive. Since finding the men they wanted, both women had opened up and shown their true character. Serelda was as hardened as I was. Though I’d been through my trials in prison, Serelda had gone through them in her mind in the form of a demon from her past. Faced with the real flesh-and-blood man, Serelda was faring far better than I’d expected. She looked like a woman taking back her life.
“Serelda,” Winter gasped, her grip on Serelda’s hand tightening. She tried to tug Serelda, but my woman pulled her sister into her arms and gave her a fierce hug.
“I’ve got this, sister. I promised you then I’d do my best to get us out. Now, I’m promising I’ll take care of this bastard like you took care of our dad.”
“I don’t think… Serelda, I can’t…”
“Roman.” Serelda found my brother’s gaze. “I know you need to be here as Sergeant at Arms --”
“I’ve got her, Serelda. I’ll take care of her.”
“She doesn’t like the sight of blood. It started with Sig. Ended when she killed our father.”
“You can count on me. Come see her tomorrow, Serelda. Bring Brick, and we’ll all do something to celebrate your freedom.” Roman didn’t hesitate, and Sting didn’t stop him. With the most trusted inner circle here to take care of the mess, Sting was good letting Roman go.
“Take Cyrus with you, Roman. Until we take care of the other business, we always go in pairs.”
“Appreciate it, prez.” Roman scooped Winter up into his arms, and he and Cyrus left, closing the barn door as they left.
“Now.” Sting pulled out his sidearm. “Serelda, is there anything more you need from this guy?”
“No.”
With no further questions, Sting calmly shot the guy in the head. The man next to him whimpered, closing his eyes as blood sprayed over his face. More than one of the remaining men shuddered. A couple looked defiant but didn’t speak. The Cannibal cackled.
Serelda stood there with a little smile on her face, her gaze fixed firmly on the crazy man. “You’re gonna burn in hell, you son of a bitch.”
He laughed. “Hell’s too good for me, little girl. You know that.”
“I do. Much as I’d love to torture you, or have these men do it, you’re not worth that piece of my soul.” She turned to Sting. “Thank you for letting me be here. I needed the closure.”
“You’re a fine ol’ lady, Serelda. I’m glad you and your sister found my brothers.”
“I’m glad we did too. I’m also glad to know your woman. Iris is a wonderful friend and mother. She loves those girls you adopted. She’ll be a great role model for them.”
“As will you and Winter. I hope my girls are as strong as the ol’ ladies in this club.”
“They will be.” Serelda turned away from Sting and stepped into my arms. “I know you need to see this through, and then you have other matters to deal with afterward. If you’d maybe take me to our room, I can wait for you there.”
“Can you give me five minutes, baby? I can have Blaze stay with you until I’m done. You can stand outside. Get some fresh air. Then I’ll go and stay with you.”
She shook her head. “If you want me to wait, I’ll stay with you. Do what you need to do.”
Yeah. She needed to be out of here. “Sting?”
“You know what’s going to happen next. I know of one rat, but I suspect another.”
“Lynch.” I didn’t hesitate. “I’ve suspected for a while. I can’t say definitely, but my gut says he’s working with Maniac.”
“I had the same feeling.” Atlas pulled his gun and shot two of the remaining guys. There were nine left. Then we had our own brothers to deal with. That wouldn’t go as quickly.
“Well, your feelings would be right.” Wylde had his laptop with him. He stepped close to Sting and showed him a screen. “Hard to believe members of this club wouldn’t be smart enough to hide money better than this.”
