Pray I can restrain myself for that long.

My stomach churning from the water, I force myself to gulp down some more before I empty the glass in the sink.

It’s even harder to force myself to walk slowly back to my bedroom so I don’t tip the guys off. My hand shakes as I close the door quietly behind me and turn off the light so they think I’m going to bed.

I listen by the door for a few more seconds. Listen to the guys quietly talk about reaching Coy for me. They’re worried, but they don’t mention anything about being afraid I’m going to leave.

With no more time to waste, I quickly scramble to find my clothes and stuff in the dark. Stripping out of Coy’s shirt and boxers, I yank on some black leggings, a black shirt, and my boots. Then, having already planned this out while I was sipping on the water, I grab the gun Coy keeps in the little cubby next to the bed.

Moving quietly and doing my best to make as little noise as possible, I walk up to window and silently slide it up. Throwing one leg over it, I cast one last look back at the bedroom door.

I never thought it would come to this…

I never thought I’d have to leave Levi behind.

Unbearable sadness threatens to overwhelm me, but I choke it down.

I know if I don’t make it out of this alive, and there’s a good chance I won’t, Coy and the MC will love and protect him.

They might even do a better job than I have…

I just wish I could give him one last kiss goodbye.

Gripping Coy’s gun in my hand, I carefully climb out of the window and thank god his bedroom is on the first floor. Once my boots touch the ground, I crouch down and slowly make my way across the front of the house, praying no one spots me.

Using the bushes as cover from the neighbors, I only stop when I near the windows. A quick peek shows me that Hammy and Tampon are still hanging around, unaware and unconcerned. Once I reach the driveway, I straighten a little and jog up to my minivan.

Scared to death I’m wasting too much time, I use my key to unlock the door and slide in so the van doesn’t beep. Then I send another thanks up to heaven that Coy backed the van in for me when we got home today. He did it in case I wanted to go grocery shopping or something.

Doing the same thing I did when I ran over Hammy’s bike, I put the van in neutral and let it roll down the driveway. Afraid the sound of it starting up right next to the house will tip the guys off.

Setting the gun in the space between the seats, I’m just about to twist the key in the ignition when my passenger door opens.

Jumping in shock, I blurt out, “Jesus Christ,” when Jude slides into the passenger seat and shuts the door behind him.

“Hate the man,” Jude mutters under his breath then flashes a white grin.

“What?” I gasp at him, my heart in my throat.

Goddammit, is he going to try to stop me?

Ignoring my question, Jude continues to grin at me and asks, “Where are we going? Somewhere fun, I hope?”

Chapter Twenty-One

Coy

Riding over to the crematorium, I think over the information Jude gave me. There’s a lot of it to unfold and even more he didn’t tell me.

I can feel it in my very bones.

What he did tell me is that Allie is married to someone who is a big player in a big ass Russian mafia. Big and fucking violent. The men Jude’s affiliated with in Garden City have been warring with the Russians for a few years now. And out in Garden City, the Russian presence is pretty much wiped completely out.

Apparently that’s not the case down in Florida or in a lot of the other bigger, more populated states on the east coast.

Whatever part of the Russian mob Mikhail is from is the same group that was troublin’ Garden City. That we just happened to have… the luck, I guess we could call it, to be connected to Mikhail gives us some backing with Garden City.

Jude also wanted to make sure I knew that Mikhail disappeared from sight when Allie went missing.

Meaning that fucker is probably on his way here, hunting for her.

None of that is good news, especially since we already have a war on the horizon after we fucking murder Diamond. Even in my head, I know for a fact that’s what this is—murder.

I first made my bones when I was seventeen. And over the past five years, I’ve killed more than ten men, each one leaving a mark on me some way or the other.
