“Who is that?” I had asked Hailey, one of the legal secretaries with whom I was friends.

“Adam Garrett. Nice, huh?” She gave me a knowing wink as we both watched him shake hands with Milton Leonard, one of the senior partners.

“Dang. What’s he here for?” I asked, drinking in every magnificent man-inch of him and there were plenty. He was every bit of six feet six, thick with the right amount of muscle under his immaculate dark suit. His close-cropped black hair and scruff of beard set off the white shirt and killer jaw-line.

He had that walk that certain guys have. A little uneven in the swagger but nothing about him was contrived. He gave off a full don’t-give-a-fuck vibe and I was all there for it.

She leaned in with a grin. “This is what I heard about him. He grew up in Upton, you know, bars on the windows, lock your car doors when you drive through, Upton. Dropped out of school when he was 14 and emancipated himself from his drug-addict parents by the time he was 15. He’s some sort of freak genius from what I hear. He was a military sniper or something, but he got shot saving a bunch of other guys. He got some big medal and was sent home. From there, he started Perception Icon software development that can detect personality traits or something. He’s taking the company public and the firm is taking care of the SEC and offering. He’s so fucking hot though. I bet he fucks like an animal, right?”

“Yeah...” I mumbled barely listening.

This was the guy I was going to marry.

There was no doubt in my mind.

Later that day as I stumbled around in a haze, he found me.

I sat in the lunchroom, picking at my salad, daydreaming about how I could arrange an official or accidental meeting with him. I imagined the touch of his strong hands, the whisper of his voice as he told me to come, the taste of his lips on mine. I never expected Destiny to throw him right there between my wilted romaine lettuce and pouch of Ranch dressing.

“Excuse me, I’m looking for conference room 4?” His voice matched his demeanor and physical appearance perfectly. Smooth, deep, confident and commanding. “Can you point me in the right direction?”

The rush of blood through my veins left my fingers numb and my mind blank.

As I stared wordless, he looked at me like he was balls deep in my pussy already. And honest to God, a silent, touchless, mini orgasm shook me in the plastic break room chair.

“Ummm, it’s…” I stuttered, losing the power of speech. “Sorry, it’s actually on the third floor. Do you know how to get back to the main lobby and the elevator?”

My heart thundered in my ears and I was sure he could hear it as well.

“Back this way?” He pointed the wrong way over his shoulder, his piercing blue eyes never leaving my face as I fought the urge to glance at the front of his pants.

And lost.

Then quickly righted my glance when I swore I saw something freaking move down there.

“No, actually, it’s…” I sat rooted to the spot, glancing around and trying to remember how to breathe before a voice in my head told me to get up and show him the way. “Here, I… I’ll take you.”

As I got to my feet, he took a step forward and the hair on my arms stood on end. Being so close to him was like coming in contact with some low-level electrical charge. I trembled as I moved toward him and dumped my untouched salad in the garbage, feeling like I was under some sort of spotlight.

His enormous frame dominated the doorway. The dark, handmade suit stretched perfectly over his wide chest.

“You sure? I don’t want to interrupt your lunch. You didn’t eat.” He raised one eyebrow looking at my untouched salad.

“It’s fine. I was done. Follow me, I’ll show you how to get there.”

“Follow you, it is. But, you need to promise you’ll eat something later.” He looked into my eyes, the deep rumble of his voice sending a burst of heat that started in my belly and exploded outward like a comet going supernova. “Tell me you promise.” He licked his bottom lip and my mind unraveled.

“I promise.” I mumbled, barely forming the words while wondering why I was making promises to this hulk of a man I didn’t even know.

“Good girl. Now, I’m Adam, Adam Garrett.”

He held out his massive hand and I slipped mine inside as I stepped into the hallway.

“Angel Henderson.” The vibration that bolted up my arm stopped us in our tracks. The energy that reverberated when we touched was palpable and from that moment on, we’ve barely been apart.

“I remember you, Angel. From the park.” He said and I think I knew at that moment we would be together forever. Or, at least I hoped. “I’ve been beating myself up about that fucking day ever since. I must have had too much sun because I shouldn’t have left you standing there. I’m a dumb fuck sometimes.”
