“You were exactly what I needed. Eagle… that’s the first time I’ve ever…”

“Come?” When I nodded, he gave me a soft smile, leaning down again to give me a soft kiss. A warm and fuzzy pleasure poured over me. Like the lethargy that follows a high. “Baby, I swear I’ll always give you as much pleasure as I can. Always.” He kissed me again, a sweet, gentle brushing of his lips and tongue before pushing himself off me.

Lifting me into his arms he carried me to the bathroom where he set me on the wide vanity and cleaned us both. Then he wedged his hips between my legs and gripped me behind my neck, looking into my eyes.

“I need to go hunting. This is what Iron Tzars does.”

“I understand. Give me five minutes to get dressed.”

“No, honey. I need you to stay here. Really need it. I can’t have you in any more danger today and I’m afraid if you come with us, my attention will be focused on you and your safety instead of on the task at hand. It could get us all killed.”

“Oh. I hadn’t thought about that.” I looked away, but he gripped my jaw with his other hand and turned me to face him once again.

“I need your word you’ll still be here when I get back. I’m serious when I said I wasn’t letting you go. You’re mine now. No taking it back.”

I nodded. “All right. I won’t leave.”

He grunted, stepping back. “Good.”

“Is it OK if I go with the other women to the hospital? I could look after them. I’m sure Stitches could use another set of eyes with so many of them hurt. Especially Rose.” Everything came crashing back, hitting me hard. “Oh, God! What are we doing? Having sex while Rose and Serelda are so hurt?”

“Hush, girl,” he snapped softly, kissing me again. “We needed to get this settled between us. I promise you, none of them are going to think badly of you for this. Of either of us.” He sighed. “Iron Tzars is different from a lot of MCs, Nyla. I don’t have time to explain things to you yet but trust me when I say, we needed these few minutes to set our expectations for each other. For the record, though, I never expected you to have sex with me. I’ll never expect it, but I will try to coax you into it.” He gave me a wicked grin, and I couldn’t help but smile. “So, yes. Go with Stitches and help take care of the other old ladies. They can answer any questions you don’t want to wait on answers for. Anything else, I’ll explain when this is over.”

“OK. Good.” I slid my arms around his neck and clung to him. “Thank you, Eagle.”

“Owen,” he said gruffly. “Owen Asher.”

“I suppose it’s something we should know about each other, huh. My last name is Pippin.”

“Not for long,” he growled, then gave me another hard, quick kiss. “I have to go. You’re to stay with Stitches or the other patched members at the hospital. Do not go off by yourself. If this attack was about revenge on you, you’re not safe. The hospital will be the safest place for you until we get things taken care of here, but you are not to go anywhere alone. Get me?”

“Are you always so bossy?” I was amused and knew he could tell when he scowled at me, pointing a warning finger at me.

“Always. And you’ll do what I say.”

I gave him a crisp salute even as my lips twitched. “Sir, yes sir!”

“Brat.” He helped me down and we both dressed.

By the time we left his room, the rest of the club had prepared for the hunt. I’d never seen so many big, scary guys with big, scary guns in my life. Even Milo’s men didn’t look as dangerous as these guys. Probably because they were a unit, a band of brothers, while Milo’s men were all out for themselves. I had the impression that these guys would fight to the death for what they believed in. I knew for a fact that Milo’s men were there for the money and nothing more.

We met Sting in the common room where everyone was packing weapons and ammunition. “You two get things settled between you?” He looked from one of us to the other. I probably should have been embarrassed to think Sting knew what we’d done, but I wasn’t. Instead, I only felt supreme satisfaction.

“We did,” I said before Eagle could. “He says there’s still things I need to know, but I’m not leaving him.”

Sting gave a short nod. “Good. He needs you, Nyla. You take good care of my brother.”

“You have my word,” I said solemnly.

“Shut the fuck up, Sting,” Eagle grumbled. “I’m the one takin’ care of her. Not the other way around.”
