I follow the smell of coffee to the kitchen and find Alec leaning against the enormous center island, steaming mug of coffee in one hand, phone in the other. He’s in nothing but his boxers, and it’s all too easy to imagine this life with him. Mornings sharing coffee, him scrolling through emails and oblivious to my gawking at his bare chest.

I cut the fantasy off at the knees.

Alec might not want anything to do with me once he knows the truth. Maybe when I tell him about Oliver, I could explain how it all happened in a way that doesn’t mortify me. Maybe . . .

He must sense me staring, because he puts his phone on the counter behind him and looks me over, his nostrils flaring.

“I hope you don’t mind that I borrowed some clothes.”

“Not at all.” He crooks a finger at me, and I wander forward, stepping between his legs. He sets his coffee down next to his phone and loops his arms around me, palming my ass. “I like the way my clothes look on you.”

I smile. “They’re soft.”

“Let me kiss you.”

I tip my face up to meet his lips with mine and melt like sugar on his tongue.

He angles my head to deepen the kiss and hardens against me. I moan into his mouth, tangling my fingers in his hair.

Alec hoists me up onto the counter. The granite is cool under my ass, even through the pants, a sharp contrast to the heat of his bare chest at my front. I wrap my legs around his waist to pull him closer and feel his smile against my mouth.

“I wanted to make you breakfast.” His hand snakes up my shirt, and his thumb seeks out my nipple. “But that’s going to have to wait.”

In a fluid motion, he frees himself from my clinging limbs and peels the joggers and panties from my hips, dropping them onto the kitchen floor.

He dips his head between my legs. His mouth is hot and wet against my bare sex. He licks and sucks, kissing me like he’s been starved for this. Starved for me.

I brace my palms on the counter and watch him from under heavy lids. He looks up and meets my eyes as he licks, and a shiver of pleasure shoots down my spine.

When he hooks my legs over his shoulders to hold me in place, I let my head fall back. I’m tender from last night, but I don’t even care. The things he’s doing with his mouth and tongue feel too good, and when he slides a finger inside me—

“Alec!” My body arches and clenches tight, pulsing and releasing in time with the waves of pleasure coursing through me.

He stays there, sweeping tender kisses against my inner thighs, as I come down.

When he straightens, his mouth is red and glistening. From me.

He grins. “I’ve been waiting to do that again since the first time I tasted you.”

I hook my legs around his waist a second time and pull him forward. “You have something . . .” I sweep my thumb across his lips. “There.”

He snags it in his teeth and pulls it into his mouth, sucking gently. “Change your flight. Stay the weekend.”

“I have work.”

“And a boss who’s totally rooting for me.” He winks.

I swallow hard. I’ve been a coward. I didn’t want him knowing about my history with Oliver because I know how bad it sounds. I know what his father called me. Your whore.

I need to be brave. Alec deserves it, and if he still wants me to stay after I tell him the truth, I will. “How about you make me some breakfast and we talk about it.”

His grin stretches across his face like he’s a kid at Christmas. Guilt is a bag of sand on my chest. I know how he feels about his brother. When I tell him the truth, he might never smile that way at me again. When I tell him, he might never see me the same.

I take his face in both hands and kiss him deeply. Just in case this is the last time. Before I know it, my hand is on his chest, trailing down to his waistband.

He stops me with a hand on my wrist. “Breakfast. Talking. Remember?”

“You need me to take care of you.” I want to. But I also want to avoid the conversation we need to have. Coward.

“You know I do. But if waiting means I get you all weekend instead of all morning, I can handle it.” He steps back and winks at me before he turns to the fridge.

I always get a weird sense of déjà vu when Alec winks at me. It has to be because of Oliver. I don’t remember Oliver ever winking, but they are brothers, so of course one is bound to remind me of the other occasionally.
