I took a step toward her, which caused her to take a few steps back. I looked her up and down and then smiled. “Don’t feel too sorry for me, Lindsay. The sex is amazing, and he can taste as often as he likes.”

Her eyes grew dark, and for a moment I couldn’t help but wonder if Lindsay actually wanted Blayze.

When she finally pulled her anger in, she let out a low chuckle. “Enjoy it while you can, Ms. Crenshaw. It’s about to all be over.”

Turning on her heels, she walked away, making sure to swing her hips.

“What did she say to you?” Morgan asked as she took my elbow and turned me to face her. Her eyes went wide. “Are you okay? You look like you’re about to be sick.”

I slowly shook my head. A feeling of utter panic filled my chest, and I felt like I couldn’t breathe. I swallowed the lump in my throat. “She knows I was here for the article. She knew I was working for Sports Monthly.”

Morgan looked confused.

“Morgan, I never told anyone! I don’t think anyone in your family would have said something to her. But she still knew about the article.”

Morgan shook her head. “Georgiana, I don’t understand why you’re so upset. Who cares if she knew?”

I looked over her shoulder in an attempt to find Blayze. I needed to speak to him. Now it all made sense. How Doug had known about Blayze being engaged. Lindsay had told him. And why they didn’t care that I wasn’t doing the article anymore. Lindsay was going to give them an interview herself.

“I need to talk to Blayze. Your dad! I need to talk to them!”

I pushed past Morgan as she called out my name.

“Georgiana!”

The sound of my father’s voice caused me to spin around.

“Dad, what are you doing here?” I asked as I made my way over to him. I stopped short when I saw the look he had on his face. It was sad or angry. I couldn’t tell.

He looked past my shoulder at Morgan, then down at me. “We were coming to surprise you and Brock.” He looked disappointed as he looked into my eyes. “You told me you didn’t give Doug anything.”

I shook my head in confusion. “I didn’t. I didn’t give anyone anything. I even deleted what I’d started to write from my laptop.”

“Did anyone at any time have access to your laptop, Georgiana?”

The anger in his voice scared me. “No! Dad, what’s going on?”

He looked around. “Ron sent me a little something I didn’t see until we landed. I’ve been trying to call you. We need to find Brock. Now.”

My head was spinning. “Dad, I think Doug has been in contact with Lindsay.”

He grabbed me by the elbow and started to walk toward Brock, who was standing with Lincoln, Ty, and Tanner.

“What’s happening?” Morgan asked from beside me.

“I’m not sure,” I said.

“Whatever it is, I don’t think it’s good,” she said.

All I could do was walk alongside my father. When he spotted Brock, he called out his name. Brock turned, and so did Ty, Tanner, and Lincoln. They all smiled at the sight of my father. Then Brock’s smile disappeared.

“Holy shit! Jeff, what are you doing here?” Ty said, pulling my father in for a hug and a slap on the back.

“I’m afraid I’m not here for a friendly visit. I came to warn you,” he said as he turned to Brock.

A feeling of dread settled over me and I pressed my hand to my stomach.

Brock glanced from me to my father, a look of worry on his face. “What do you mean?”

Dad turned to me. “Did you tell them?”

“Yes! Of course. But I haven’t told Blayze everything yet.”

Brock gave me a look of disappointment.

“Haven’t told me what?” Blayze asked as he walked up.

Something was about to happen, and my father hadn’t even given me a heads up. I answered Blayze as I twisted my fingers together.

“That Doug, the editor from Sports Monthly, wanted me to find out about your broken engagement and to dig up dirt on the family.”

Ty and Tanner looked confused.

Blayze, also looking confused, turned to me. “You said Wendy was the one who told you about the wedding.”

“She did!” I quickly said. “But Doug initially told me you had been engaged.”

His eyes went cold.

“So you knew before I told you, and never said anything?”

“I thought it was a rumor, and I wasn’t even going to write about you since they wanted it to be more of a gossip piece.”

Blayze shook his head. “You came here to dig up dirt on me?”

“NO!” I shouted. “The editor told me all of this after I was already here. I wasn’t going to do it.”

“So that night I told you everything.”

“I told you, I wasn’t writing the article. I informed them that next day I wasn’t going to be turning anything over. That I wanted nothing to do with writing anything about you or your family.”
