Tears burned at the back of my eyes, and I shook my head. Blayze smiled and reached for my hand.

“I know that’s not true, Georgie. Because I honestly don’t think I could live this life without you in it. I’ve been so fucking miserable without you here. I miss seeing your smile, hearing your laugh. Those green eyes of yours that I could get lost in for hours have been in my dreams ever since you left. I love you, and I can say without a doubt that I’ve never loved anyone else but you.”

I felt a sob slip free as I went to move, but then realized the tray was in the way. Blayze chuckled, picked it up, and set it on the floor.

“I love you too,” I said, “and I would never in a million years do anything to hurt you or break your trust. I know I should have told you about the article from the very beginning, and I regret that more than anything. I could have been more forceful about telling you, but I think a part of me wanted to pretend everything was okay. I think we both were feeling that way. And I’m so sorry Lindsay hurt you again. So terribly sorry.”

Blayze pulled me onto his lap and held me close. And for the first time in nearly two months, I felt like I was home.

Chapter Twenty-Two

BLAYZE

I held Georgie in my arms as she melted into me. God, it felt so good to hold her. She was where she belonged. I truly believed it in my heart and soul.

“Georgie, I know I have no right to ask you this, and that you have a career you love, but I would really love it if you stayed here in Hamilton. With me.”

She drew back and smiled. “I was really hoping you would say that because I’m no longer doing freelance writing.”

I could feel my brows pull down in confusion. “What do you mean? You’re not writing for Vogue anymore?”

“No,” she said with a shake of her head. “When I was in London, I got to see this whole other side of the fashion industry. I love to write, but I think I found what I really love writing.”

“The romance novel?” I asked in shocked surprise.

“Yes,” she giggled. “The romance novel. And watching Morgan in action with Mia in England, and seeing how she has an eye for fashion gave me another thought. I’ve already asked my mom and dad for their advice about it, and I even talked to your dad at the rodeo to get his opinion as well.”

I remembered seeing Georgie and my father speaking together, their heads bent close in what looked like a serious conversation.

“You’ve really got my curiosity piqued.”

She climbed off me, turning to face me. I could see the excitement on her face. “That day we walked around Hamilton, I saw a building that was available for rent. The idea kind of sparked then, but I pushed it away. It resurfaced again in England.”

Reaching for her hands that she was rubbing together nervously, I laughed and said, “Georgie, tell me.”

She inhaled a deep breath and then exhaled it all in a swoosh. “I want to open a boutique store in Hamilton that carries affordable designer clothing. I think Morgan would make an amazing partner, and she could design a line of clothing exclusive to the store. I mean, if she wants to. I think if given the chance, she could really make a name for herself as a designer. I also took business classes in college, and I know Morgan has as well. With both of our parents help, I really think this could be an amazing opportunity for everyone.”

I stared at her, letting her words sink in. My heart did a weird dip as I realized what she’d said.

She nervously chewed on her lip. “You don’t like the idea? Do you think it wouldn’t work?”

Clearing my throat, I finally found my voice. “I think it’s an amazing idea, I’m just…the fact that you want to bring Morgan in on this is…this would be her dream, Georgie.”

She beamed back at me. “She told me how much she loves Hamilton and her family and the ranch. She adores her horses, but I know she wants a career in fashion. I would love to have more of a home base and still be able to do something I’m passionate about—which is fashion. After I talked to my father about it, he offered to buy the building if we officially decided to go through with the plan. I thought maybe Morgan might like to live above the store and have a design studio there as well. Your dad agreed and said he thought she’d be over the moon about the plan. Do you think she will? I mean, you’re so close with her, and I’m hoping I didn’t read the situation wrong.”
