I try not to react, but how can I not? I’ve never had the rapt attention of a man like Legend, and I’ll be quite honest, I’m not sure what to do with it.

“You should go to bed. I could be here for hours.”

I showed him the guest room earlier, and he dropped his bag on the bed, but other than that, he's been by my side the whole time.

He throws one arm up over his head, and it pulls up his shirt, showing the skin of his flat belly. I have to practically drag my eyes off his firm body. “I’m good here,” he says with a big smile.

It’s frustrating because he knows what he does to me. I can tell with his little smirks and the way he’s always watching me. Is this some kind of game to him? Is he trying to see if he can get the introverted romance author all hot and bothered? News flash, he can and he did.

I turn my back to him. “I’m fine, Legend. Get some sleep.”

He doesn’t answer me this time, and I try to get back to work, but after rereading the last sentence I wrote three times, I groan in frustration.

“What’s wrong?” Legend mutters.

“Nothing,” I reply quickly. There’s no way I can tell him what’s wrong with me right now.

I hear movement, and I turn to check and see him moving to sit up on the edge of the couch. “Something’s wrong. You’ve stared at that screen for the last hour and huffed a few times. You stuck?”

Geez, kill me now. “No, I’m good.”

He rests his elbows on his knees. “Okay, but I could help you.”

“You’ve read half a romance novel and now you think you’re a professional?”

He’s not offended. He just shrugs. “Try me.”

I turn in my chair. “Fine, you want to help? Well, what do I have to lose?”

He chuckles. “You’re great for my ego, Maya. Tell me, what’s the problem? Where are you stuck?”

I blow out a breath. I guess it won’t hurt to tell him even though it’s going to be a little embarrassing. I grab my laptop and move to the chair across from the couch. “Okay, so here it is. My agent has informed me that the uh, intimacy aspects of my books are bad. They are very methodical and lack emotion and spiciness, according to reviews. I’m losing readers, and I’ve been told that if I don’t do something on this next book, then I will most likely lose my contract for the series.”

He moves to the edge of the couch. “Okay, read me what you got. Where you at?”

I stare at the black letters on my screen. “You want me to read this?”

He chuckles. “Yeah, that would help me see what you got.”

I close my laptop. “You know what this is a bad idea. You’re not my demographic. The people that read my stories are mostly women.”

“Yeah, but I know sex.”

I sit back like he’s just hit me in the solar plexus. I don’t want to hear about his sexual escapades. I hold up my hand. “I don’t want to hear about the parade of women you’ve had sex with.”

He scrunches up his nose. “No, that’s not what I mean. I just mean, I know what’s sexy.”

I roll my eyes. “Yeah, from a man’s point of view.”

He lifts his hand up and gestures around us. “Look, I’m here, and sometimes it helps to just bounce ideas off someone. Let me help.”

I bite my lip. He’s right, and I know he is. It does help to talk things out sometimes. “Okay, fine. So here we go.” I take in a deep breath. “He kisses me until my toes curl. I didn’t know that a kiss could make me feel the way I am right now. His hand slides down my body, and when he palms my womanhood, my hips flex against him, wanting more.”

I let out a shuddered breath. “This is stupid. Forget it.”

He shakes his head, his voice gruff. “Keep going.”

I lower my head and continue to read. “Brent pulls back to look at me. ‘You have too many clothes on.’ When he dips his fingers into the waistband of my panties, I suck in a breath as he pulls them down my hips. His touch is everything, but it’s not enough. I need more, but I’m not sure exactly what I need. I lie back on the bed, and Brent climbs on top of me.

“He caresses the side of my face, looking at me lovingly, and I stare up into his big brown eyes. It feels so good everywhere he touches me.

I stop reading and look at Legend. “This is too wordy, huh?”

He shrugs. “You know what might help? What if we read some of your reviews?”

I gasp. “Oh no, I don’t read reviews. People can be so mean, and quite honestly, I don’t know if I can handle that right now.”
