“So what are you guys doing tomorrow morning?” I ask.

“Well… Rory and I are joining you and Jesse on your tour.”

“Oh.” I force a smile. “How nice.”

“It’s a tour, Brianna. A guided tour. It’s not like you’re going to, you know, have any alone time.”

“I know. You’re right.”

“I’m pretty sure Dave and Maddie are coming too.”

“The more the merrier,” I say, hoping to sound excited.

Brock is right, of course. It’s not like Jesse and I would be alone on a guided tour. We’ll probably catch lunch with the other four and then grab our stuff from the hotel and hit the train station.

“Rory and Jesse were amazing tonight,” I say.

“They were,” Brock agrees. “I think this is the best they’ve sounded together since we got here.”

I smile at that, wondering if I had anything to do with it. Because when Jesse sings love ballads, I swear to God he’s singing straight to me.

They only sang one ballad. The rest of the numbers were pure rock and roll.

But even then, I imagine he’s singing to me. I feel him. I feel him in me, in my heart and my soul, and as his voice carries straight to my ears, he’s inside me, a part of me.

Jesse and Rory are talking to fans.

Eventually they make their way over to Brock and me.

“You were so amazing.” I grab Jesse in a hug. “Brock and I were just talking about how we’ve never heard you and Rory sound better than you did tonight.”

He kisses my cheek. “Yeah, we were totally in sync tonight. It’s like we were anticipating each other in a way we never have before.”

“Whatever it was, it was awesome,” I say.

Dave and Maddie approach us.

“Jess, you rocked it,” Dave says.

Jesse, somewhat reluctantly, takes Dave’s hand. “Thanks.”

I nod at him. “He has a name.”

“Dave,” he says.

Dave cocks his head. “Hey, cool. I don’t think I’ve ever heard you call me Dave before. It’s always Simpson.”

“Okay, Simpson.”

Dave, jovial as ever, simply laughs it off. “Awesome job, Pike. You rocked it.” Then he turns back to Maddie.

Jesse is staring, and not nicely.

“You going to make your peace with that?” I ask.

“Do I have a choice?”

“Nope.” I grab his hand. “Come on. I want to talk to Rory.”

Brock and Rory are only a few steps away. “Rory,” I say, “you were the best I’ve ever heard you. You and Jesse both.”

She grabs me and hugs me. “Thanks so much, Brianna. We really were rocking tonight. I’m not exactly sure why.”

“Maybe the talk we had before the concert,” Jesse says.

“Yeah, maybe.”

“Talk about what?” I can’t help asking.

“Music, mostly,” Jesse says.

I have an inkling he’s not telling me the whole truth, but I’m not going to push it because I have everything I want. Jesse rocked it tonight. He’s amazing, and he loves me.

A few more groupies come up to Jesse, but he holds tight to my hand, making it clear that we’re together.

It warms me inside, keeps a smile on my face. I’m sure I look like an idiot, but I don’t care.

When the crowd finally dies down, Jesse and I head for the limo alone.

When we get back to the hotel, Jesse walks me not to his door but to mine.

“You don’t want to…”

“Oh, hell yes, I do.” He grabs my hand and leads it to the bulge in his crotch. “I want you so much. My adrenaline is still flowing, and I need you.”

“Let’s go to your room.”

“I was just thinking that if you’re in your room, Maddie will have more of a desire to stay there.”

“Look, whatever this is between Maddie and Dave, it just started. He’s not going to take her to bed the first night.”

Jesse stares at me, glaring. And I know exactly what he’s thinking.

“Jesse… It’s different.”

“Just how is it different? First of all, this is the second night Dave’s been here, and you and I ended up going to bed together the first night we were in London. The first night, Bree.”

“You know what?” I huff. “So what if it does happen? She’s a grown woman, Jesse. She’s my age. My fucking age. And Dave is a good guy.”

Jesse breathes in, lets it out slowly. “Do you have any idea how much I want you right now?”

“Since my hand is still on your dick, yeah, I have a pretty good idea.”

“Just when I think I’m getting over everything. Oh, what the fuck?”

Then he leads me toward his room, opens the door, and we walk inside.

I expect him to grab me and kiss me hard. It’s what usually happens as soon as we get into his room, but this time he doesn’t.

“You okay?” I ask.

He closes his eyes. “Yeah.”

“Oh my God, stop picturing it.”

He snaps his eyes back open. “I’m not picturing it. Not the act itself, anyway. If I do that, I’ll wait outside your cousin’s room and punch him into next week.”
