Good enough.

Ford quirks a brow. “Looks like someone wants to get laid tonight.”

“Nah.” That is most definitely not on the agenda.

“Since when?” he asks with growing interest. “You gone celibate on us? Taken a vow of chastity?”

I give him a bit of side eye. “Is Carina planning on making a cameo appearance tonight?”

That question is all it takes to have his eyes narrowing and lips flattening. “How the fuck should I know? Am I her keeper or something?”

Did the motherfucker really think he was going to poke at me?

Ha!

All I have to do is mention Carina’s name and his disposition changes.

And not for the good.

There’s definitely something there, and I’m curious to know what it is.

I shrug, delighted to have turned the tables on him with so little effort. I mean, it wasn’t even a challenge.

“Maybe she’ll bring her new boyfriend with,” I toss out for shits and giggles.

He straightens and glares.

Screwing with him is almost too easy.

Although, still entirely satisfying.

“The fuck you say?”

“Guess you’ll have to ask her about it.”

“Damn right I will,” he grumbles.

I need to get out of here before I bust out laughing and Ford figures out that I’m messing with him.

My guess is that he has the hots for his stepsister.

Or ex-stepsister.

Or whatever the hell they are to each other. I have no idea if their parents are married or not. It’s kind of comical to watch him get all fired up about her and then try to pretend he has zero interest.

“Catch you later, man,” I say, slamming my locker door shut.

He doesn’t bother with a response. I’m sure he’s in his head right now, trying to figure out what’s going on with Carina.

My lips twitch as I head to the lobby where everyone has congregated while waiting for the players.

As I turn the corner, my gaze drifts over the crowd before settling on Juliette and slowly sweeping over the length of her. The girl is gorgeous with long, mahogany colored hair that falls like a rich curtain down her back and eyes that are just as deep and dark. She’s all curves. I hadn’t realized how stacked she was until the party last weekend.

And then when she’d shed her clothing…

Yeah.

Tonight, her outfit is casual. More like what it is when I run into her on campus. A black puffy jacket has been layered over a pink sweater that leaves everything to the imagination, and a pair of jeans hugs her heart-shaped ass. There’s a black Wildcats knit hat on her head and matching scarf wrapped around her neck.

She turns and glances at me as if she can feel the heat of my stare. When our eyes collide, hers flare wide before color seeps into her cheeks and she rips them away.

A smile curls around the edges of my lips.

Are thoughts of the way I kissed her at the library rolling lazily through her head?

Or how about the way I flexed my hips while pinning her against the bookshelf?

My cock twitches at the memory.

As I join the group, Brody flashes me a smile. “Nice win out there.”

“Thanks.” Even though he doesn’t bring it up, we both know that I didn’t have a great game. Coach pulled me in the third period to sit my ass on the bench after I fumbled a pass.

“It’s all right,” Dad says, as if he can read my mind. “Everyone has an off game.”

He knows just how much shit has been eating at me lately.

With a nod, my hand rises to the back of my neck. The last thing I want to discuss is the game and all the mistakes I made on the ice.

Already, there’s a meeting set up with Coach for Monday at noon to go over game film. He’ll point out every fucking mistake and I’ll walk out of his office and wonder why the hell I bothered to lace up my skates in the first place.

Even though I’m no longer on the ice or in the locker room, it feels like I’m slowly being suffocated. I glance longingly toward the doors that lead out of the building. It feels like my lungs are starved for fresh air. What I need to do is get the hell out of here.

I refocus my attention on Juliette. She might be a distraction I don’t need, especially right now, but I find that she’s the only thing that takes my mind off hockey. Even if it’s just for a few blissful hours.

She’s going to shit a brick when she figures out what I’ve got in store for her. Pushing that girl out of her comfort zone will be an absolute pleasure.

“What are your plans tonight?” Mom asks. “Big party to celebrate?”

I shake my head as my gaze flickers to Juliette. “We’re heading to the bars, right?”

For the second time in a matter of minutes, her eyes widen. Only this time, it’s in surprise. “What?”
