He sank to his knees and parted her legs open with a roughness that made her whimper. And when he ripped the flimsy fabric protecting her womanhood, his wife gasped his name—-

"Renzo!"

And after that, nothing.

Just the scrape of her nails against the leather seat as he pleasured her with his mouth.

Just her back arching and her hands gripping his hair as he thrust his tongue in to taste her.

Sweet, so damn sweet.

The taste of her was life-giving honey.

He couldn't get enough of it. He tasted her again and again until she came with a cry. But this still wasn't enough, and Lorenzo swiftly reversed their positions. He lifted her up as he took a seat, and he heard her gasp when she saw him unzipping himself.

"R-Renzo..."

When he reached for her, she was trembling but eager, not even needing instructions as she straddled his lap. He entered her with one thrust, and she cried out as her head fell back. His fingers bit into her sides as she rode him with an irresistible combination of inexperience and sweetness even as her hunger easily matched his.

Everything she did enthralled and enslaved him.

His need for her knew no end, and so when her nails dug into his back as she came for the second time, Lorenzo grabbed her hips and buried himself deeper into her womanhood.

"Renzo..."

His passion for her only burned hotter at the way she moaned his name out. He couldn't stop moving even when she started to beg for respite. Couldn't stop pounding into her again and again until finally—-

Finally.

Finally, it was Lorenzo's turn to growl out his wife's name, and Gazelle started to sob anew as he spent himself inside of her.

"Renzo, Renzo, Renzo..."

He squeezed his eyes shut because the emotions in her voice threatened his self-control.

What the hell's happening to me?

Everything about this moment suddenly felt too damn precious, and he had another self-sabotaging urge to just...leave.

Because all of this was starting to feel too much and too real.

A beast like me doesn't deserve this.

And that was why—-

If he had the power to unhear the way his wife was saying his name like it meant everything to her, he would have.

If he had the power to delete every memory he had of her, he would have.

Because it was just too much.

There were just so many damn things he suddenly wished himself incapable of seeing and feeling.

Because she was everything he didn't deserve.

And yet every time he looked into her eyes of blue and gray—-

Why, dammit?

Why did his wife feel so damn different from the others?

And why was she so damn good at making him act like a fool?

Because what he saw in her eyes?

It couldn't be real.

You don't matter to her!

You're not everything to her!

And only an idiot would insist on thinking otherwise when it was Gazelle's own grandmother who had destroyed any hopes Lorenzo could have about their marriage.

So why can't I stop hoping, dammit?

Lorenzo had not lied last night when he told Gazelle he needed to make a call. But what his wife didn't know was that it was the Marchetti matriarch whom he had needed to speak to.

'Did your granddaughter truly ask you to replace me with Viktor Bianciardi?'

'Why do you ask this now? You and Gazelle are already married—-'

'I will not harm her if that's what you're afraid of. I swear this on my life. But I need to know the truth, and you know better than to lie to me.'

'At least tell me why—-'

'Yes or no, signora.'

The older woman hadn't answered him right away, and the tension was such that he had started suspecting she had no plans of saying a single thing.

But she had, eventually.

'Don't you dare hurt her, Lorenzo.'

And while the words she had given weren't what he had asked for—-

'Don't you dare!'

They still answered his question, and it was then that Lorenzo realized there were still pieces of his heart that his wife had the power to break.

Journal Entry

You kiss a beast to turn him into a prince.

But what do you do when the world has convinced a prince to think of himself as a beast?

IT'S MY FIRST TIME feeling jealous, and I don't quite know how to handle it.

Lorenzo glances at me, his puzzlement evident, but I can't make myself smile even when I know he hasn't done anything wrong.

He was even so adorably sweet earlier, with how he had suddenly gripped my hand when he was about to step out of the car.

'Will you really be okay being seen with me?'

That he even thought it was necessary to ask such a question made my heart ache so, so bad that all I could do was cup my husband's beautiful face as I asked him to look into my eyes.

'We're the same, Lorenzo. You and I. We were born in the same world. Bear the same wounds from our childhood. And now, you're my husband. You're the one who matters to me—-'
