I grow rigid because her words can only mean one thing.
“You’re pregnant?” I ask hoarsely, barely able to breathe.
“Yes!” she smiles with joy before throwing her arms around my neck. “You’re going to be a father again, John, and Brynna’s getting a little brother.”
With that declaration, it’s a perfect end to the day. I have my fiancée; a beautiful little girl; and now, a son on the way too. Maybe I began this trip in life as a ravenous man, but now, my appetite has been sated.
