He takes it and drops his keys into my hand. “I’ll swing by tomorrow and swap them out.”

“I’ll text you the address.”

“I know where Carnage…” He frowns. “You’re hiding.” It’s not a question.

“I’m not hiding.” I slap his shoulder. “But this stays between us. And if I find out you told someone, I’ll nail your fucking dick to the wall.”

He just laughs. Fucker would probably get off on that.

THIRTY-FIVE

CHARLOTTE

Chelsea is here with some guy who I’ve never met before. He’s a drug dealer, and when she said she had Molly, she meant he did.

I’ve done drugs before, but I’m just not in the mood tonight. I’d rather get wasted. We’re standing at the bar as the bartender lines up more shots. I’m here to drown out any memory of Haidyn, the Lords, and my future because it’s officially over.

A hand reaches up the back of my dress, and I jump, spinning around, about to punch the fuck out of whoever is touching me when I look up into a set of blue eyes.

I have a moment of panic, thinking that I did take a Molly and just forgot, and now I’m hallucinating.

Haidyn steps into me, pinning my back into the bar. He cups my face, and my breathing becomes labored as he lowers his lips to mine.

He kisses me, and my lips part on their own, letting him control the kiss like he did my body in the basement. It feels good to be wanted, even if it’s fake. It feels so real.

The taste of his kiss, the touch of his lips, and the dominance in the way his hands hold me in place are more intoxicating than any drink I’ve ever had. If he wasn’t holding me up, I’d fall over. Or float away. Either way, it would end too soon.

He pulls away as if he can read my mind, and I open my heavy eyes to see him staring down into mine. “Hello, doll face.”

I can’t speak. My body is cold, and my limbs are numb. Does it make me a whore that I want him to place me on the bar top, push up my dress, and fuck me? Make me beg him to come? Show all of Blackout that he owns me and I’m his good girl who begs to be his whore?

“Charlotte?”

My name is shouted over the music, and he lets go of my face. I turn to see my two friends staring at Haidyn wide-eyed. Nikki’s boyfriend tilts his head to the side, also staring at the stranger who just swept me off my feet.

“What the fuck happened to you and Wesley?” Nikki asks.

“We broke up.” I lie easily. My body may be a little slow right now, but my mind isn’t.

“When?” she asks, her eyes finally going to me.

Before I can respond, Chelsea laughs. “Who the hell cares?” She’s drooling all over Haidyn.

I can’t blame the woman. My eyes go back to his and look over his black T-shirt that has a woman on her knees kneeling in front of an upside-down cross that reads—devoted. She’s got tape over her mouth and her tied hands in a praying position—ready and willing to serve her Lord.

It fits him like a glove. The short sleeves show off his muscular arms and tattoos. They make my mouth water.

He removes his wallet from his back pocket and pulls out a black card. When he moves to stand beside me, the bartender looks up and notices him immediately. He’s hard to miss.

“Haidyn, what’s up, man?” he yells over the music.

He holds out the card and tells the guy, “For my girl and her friends.”

My girl? Well, I think I earned that, considering his name is on my ass.

“Got it.” The guy takes it. “Want anything?”

Haidyn shakes his head. “No thanks.”

Haidyn looks toward the end of the bar, and the club owner nods at him. Then he turns to face me and lowers his head to speak into my ear. “Be right back.”

I watch him walk through the crowd, and people move out of the way as if he’s God. The best thing is that they don’t even know who he really is. He says a few things to other Lords that I know of—Sin and Ryat—before they turn and head toward the exit, and then he and Tyson step into the hallway out of sight.

“Here you go, ladies,” the bartender calls out, getting my attention.

I spin around, pick up the shot, and clank our glasses together before I throw it back. After I set it down, the girls start to talk when Chelsea’s drug dealer comes to stand next to me. He’s looking in the direction of the hallway before his dilated eyes meet mine. “You’re dating Haidyn Reeves?”

Does he know who Haidyn is? Surely not. He’s a Spade brother. Although the Lords keep their life a secret…the Spade brothers? They’re kept even more a secret since they work at Carnage.
