“Amos.” My voice is husky. I’m ready for him to take me right here and now.

“Fuck yeah, you like that, don’t you.” His hand slides beneath my hair, massaging the back of my neck with his thick fingers.

“Yeah, I do. Please hurry. It’s been too long already.” I refer to him being inside me. It feels like a lifetime, yet it’s barely been a day. Sitting next to him on the long ride to and from made me realize that while we have great conversations, it’s also a double-edged sword because there’s not too much touching you can do.

“Don’t worry, Genevieve, I’ll be inside your sweet little body soon enough. Even if you’re sleeping. I’ll wake you up with my cock gliding in and out of your wet pussy. Maybe you’ll wake up, maybe you won’t, maybe I’ll fall asleep seated deep inside only to take you again when I feel the need.” His words are a statement. He’s always made good on his word, and this he’ll one hundred percent do, which means I need to somehow manage to get inside. You know, without falling walking up the steps.

“Amos.”

“Yeah, you’ll be saying my name, too, sweetheart. Just.” Kiss. “Like.” Another kiss. “That.” He gives me one last kiss, and then he’s out of the truck, coming to open my door. I get myself together, grabbing my purse and a handful of items to help in some capacity when my door opens.

“Woman, drop all that. The only thing you need is your phone and birth control pills. I’ll grab everything else later.” He takes everything out of my hands minus my purse, which also holds my medicine I take every night at the same time, except for today or yesterday.

“Fine.” I drop the few bags I gathered, then scoot out of my seat. Amos’ hands grip my hips, and he lowers me to the ground. But instead of getting back in the truck to drive it down to the barn, he walks me up the few steps of the massive front porch, opens the door, and guides me in.

“Be back soon, sweetheart. Keep the bed warm for me.” He presses me inside and closes the door after him. I take in the living room, seeing it in a different light now that Sienna is living with Trey. Her little touches are gone. The place is kind of bare now that there isn’t a throw here and pillows there. Still, I’m surrounded by Amos’ scent. I take a deep breath, inhaling the woodsy scent mixed with leather and a touch of orange. The tips of my fingers trail along the banister as I take the stairs toward his bedroom. Sienna’s has always been downstairs, along with the spare bedrooms. Amos took the master years ago. Along the walls are images of landscapes, animals, and the barn printed in black and white.

I make it up the stairs and down the hall. The lamps in the living room are lighting my path, and when I make it to Amos’ bedroom, I almost run straight to the bed, where I can faceplant and soak in my surroundings. As much as I want to do exactly that, I don’t. This room is exactly him—dark wood furniture, deep green bedding, and what looks like the same beige walls carried throughout the rest of the house. I drop my purse on his dresser. “Time to get nosy in order to find a shirt,” I say to the empty room. It only takes me two tries until I land on a white cotton shirt, pulling it out and bringing it to my nose. This might seem pathetic to most, but for a girl like me, who never thought a man like Amos would take notice, it's everything.

I shuffle through my purse, grabbing my birth control packet to take to the bathroom with me. I didn’t think to bring a glass of water, so I’ll have to use my hand to cup some and swallow my pill. A few short steps, and I’m flipping on the light in the bathroom. Sienna or Trey must have flipped a couple of the lamps on throughout the house before we made it home.

“Holy shit.” I look at myself in the mirror. My hair is every which way, standing up in a way that has static electricity calling me out. I shake my head, clearing my thoughts, and start stripping out of my clothes. I’ll deal with my rat’s nest later. There’s no way Amos has conditioner, which means no washing my hair tonight. It doesn’t take me long to undress then walk over to the shower. The rest of the house has had a few updates along the way, but the shower, there’s only one word for it: luxurious. Two shower heads, glass doors, and tile all the way to the ceiling. My body relaxes as I think about the hot water raining down on me, and I step inside. The way Amos moves, I’m going to be lucky to get my shower done with and to be lying in bed when he’s finished with the bison. I have no doubt he’ll unhook the trailer, too, as well as clean up the mess inside of the truck. Still, it makes me move, more than ready to be in Amos’ bed and in his arms again.
