She felt a smile cross her face. “Okay, I kind of want to be Sandra when I grow up.”

“It’s not a bad thing to be. She had relationships with all of us. The sex was casual. The friendship was not,” Drake explained. “She’s one of the reasons I’m comfortable with my sexuality. Big Tag is another because he helped me get into my club.”

She’d heard about the club in DC. “The Court?”

“Yes. It is a fun place to be,” he affirmed. “And it’s nice to be able to be a me I’m not most of the time. Which is why I wouldn’t hate playing with you, Taylor. I’ll be honest. I’d also try to seduce you because I want to prove to myself that the sex we had wasn’t…it couldn’t be as good as I remember.”

Wasn’t as… “You can’t be serious. Are you actually telling me I should fuck you to prove the sex we had was good?”

“It wasn’t merely good,” Drake argued. “It was earth shaking, life changing.”

She rolled her eyes. “Sure it was.”

“I haven’t had sex since, so…” He gave her a shrug.

“You haven’t had sex since we were together? That was a year and a half ago.”

He simply stared at her.

Could she believe him? Or was this one more way to get back into her life so he could fuck her over again.

Or he made a mistake and he knows it now. Maybe he felt everything you did and he wants to try again.

Her vagina had terrible instincts when it came to men. Or rather man. She was pretty good at figuring out who wasn’t worth her time. Drake had been the exception.

Not that she’d had a lot of experience before. And none after, and didn’t she want to prove it hadn’t been that good, too?

She was going into something so dangerous, and why shouldn’t she take what pleasure she could? She could be the one to walk away this time. This time she would be in control. This time she would come out on top.

But who would she be if she gave in? She didn’t want to be that sad-sack girl who went back to the man who hurt her, to the man who might have had a hand in her father’s death.

So find out. He’s offering you the keys to his kingdom. This isn’t about pleasure. It’s about investigating him. What’s the best way to get close to a man? He wants you. He’ll screw up, and you’ll be there to use it against him.

It sucked when her brain and her vagina teamed up on her. Her brain made a little bit of sense, and her vagina offered her everything she wanted. It was perfect. And terrible.

“Why the hell would I trust you again?” She needed to ask even though she wouldn’t believe him.

“That’s the great thing about D/s. We can have a contract. We can keep that part of our relationship in one specific place, and we’ll have two people who have control over it. Sandra here and Damon when we get to London. I assure you I won’t piss either of them off. I’ll respect every limit you put on me, and I hope you’ll respect mine. This won’t be a boyfriend/girlfriend thing. It’s about mutual need. I know I’m stressed. It’s my sister out there. I have to take out a person I loved…love. I love my sister. I love the person I thought she was. D/s is my refuge when my emotions get too hard to handle.”

She didn’t want to believe him. She wanted him to be some asshole because if he was, she didn’t have to consider that he’d made a mistake and wanted another chance. She didn’t have to think about the fact that she might want another chance, too.

It was so much easier to live in the now, to only think about today and tomorrow because she was going into something she probably wouldn’t come out of.

“I have to think about it.” She turned away from him, noticing that night had fallen outside. It got so dark out here. The stars sparkled like diamonds, and a single car could light up the night like a firefly floating her way.

“Dinner is served,” one of the waitstaff announced.

“Thank god.” Kyle downed the rest of his drink and checked his watch. “I’ve got a raid in a couple of hours, and I’d like to check out the dungeon ahead of time.”

Big Tag had finished that whole plate of meatballs on his own. “You’re going to the dungeon?”

“Online dungeon,” Kyle corrected, starting for the dining room. “I certainly won’t have any fun at all because my mom is planning on playing tonight, so I will avoid the actual dungeon at all costs. I’m going to be online all night, so unless the world is on fire, don’t call me.”
