“I gotta go, Day.” God swung his legs over the side of the couch.

“W-wait! No, absolutely not! Where are you going?” Day admonished.

“Where else? Home,” God said, while wiping his wet eyes.

“No, Cash. I don’t think you should be home alone right now.”

“Who am I? Macaulay Culkin?” God chuckled humorlessly.

“I’m not playing around, and don’t fucking mock me, Cashel,” Day ground out through gritted teeth.

“Day, please.” God sighed heavily and dropped his head into his hands, silently praying Day would just let this go. Fat fucking chance.

“I’ll see you at work in a few hours, all right?” He still had his boots on, so he threw his black T-shirt over his head and snatched his keys off the end table before Day could grab them.

God didn’t bother buttoning his pants back up. He threw his leather coat on, ran his hands through his sweaty curls, and moved to the front door, only to have Day race past him and block him from leaving.

“You are not leaving until you talk to me, because later at work you’ll try to act like nothing happened and throw yourself into a case,” Day said. He had his back pressed firmly to the door and his arms stretched out to the sides.

God thought Day looked wonderful at that moment, and he’d be damned if that realization didn’t make his head swim.

“I’m tired, Leo.” God’s voice was husky and strained as he stepped in very close to his partner. Their chests were almost touching and he saw Day crane his head up to look into his eyes. What he saw reflected back at him through those caring hazel browns was stubbornness and concern.

Day had come for him tonight, had rescued him, had worried about him, taken care of him, but what he saw in Day’s eyes didn’t have a damn thing to do with being buddies. He needed to leave and process all these new feelings.

“Leonidis, I’m walking out this damn door, and I promise to talk about this with you later.” God inched even closer, letting their chests touch. If Day had puckered his lips he could’ve kissed him on his chin, that’s how close their faces were. He saw Day’s eyes lower at their close proximity and his hot, heavy breaths were ghosting over God's neck.

“Well later is now. Because I’m not fucking moving.” Day dared him.

God began to slowly bend his knees and slide down Day’s torso, bringing his eyes level with his partner's.

“What are you doing?” Day whispered.

God brought his arms up and slid them under Day’s, securing them behind his back as if he was positioning them for another hug.

“Cash.” Day breathed his name into his cheek while bringing his arms up around his neck.

God squeezed his eyes shut and enjoyed the contact for a few seconds before lifting Day completely off his feet, up into a bear hug and turning him around so that he was no longer blocking the door. He slowly set his friend back down and did something that shocked the hell out of both of them… he kissed Day gently on the forehead before turning to leave.

It’s Time for A Change

Day was sitting at his desk, trying not to get angry at the fact that it was almost noon and God wasn't at work yet. Day had called him at least ten times and hadn’t gotten an answer.

“So where’s your bodyguard, Day?”

Day mentally rolled his eyes and swiveled his chair around to face his most incessant headache. “I don’t know, Ronowski, but I know where I am… I’m about ten seconds off your fucking ass. I’m warning you, now is not the time.” Day glared.

“I bet you’d love to get up in my ass. Tell me, Day. Do you scream like a girl when a man is shoving his hard cock in your ass?” Ronowski said just loud enough for him to hear. He had both hands on the surface of his desk, sneering down at him disgustedly.

Day narrowed his eyes and shook his head. “You made a special point to stop what you were doing and come all the way from the other side of the station just to ask what sounds I make when I get fucked. Jesus, Ronowski… get a life. Better yet, come out of the closet and then get a fucking life.”

Day saw Ronowski gearing up again but completely lost interest when he saw God stroll into the office in his typical tight black T-shirt and dark blue Levi’s. He had on his leather coat and black boots. His long waves were tamed by an elastic band and his two-day-old scruff looked delicious. Day thought about how the coarse beard had felt against his face just nine short hours ago. Day leaned back and blatantly tracked God as he moved through the maze of desks, stopping here and there to speak with other officers. God’s sexy green eyes were fixed on him as well as he sat in his chair across from him. After several seconds, God broke the contact and blinked quizzically in Ronowski’s direction. Day absently looked up at the wickedly handsome, homophobic officer and saw he was still standing there staring at him.
