“Nothing. We’re at the office.”

“Don’t knock it until you try it,” Royce says.

“See!” Sawyer points at me. “Go, don’t keep your man waiting.”

Their laughter, combined with mine, follows me down the hall to Owen’s office. “You rang?” I ask, stepping into his office.

“Shut the door.”

“I think it’s better if we keep it open,” I say, taking a step further into the room.

“Babe, if you think that door being open is going to stop me from tasting you, you’re wrong.”

“Not here,” I hiss as he stands from his chair and meets me halfway.

“These lips, baby.” He grins as he traces my bottom lip with his thumb. “What did you think I meant, Layla? Huh? You thinking about me tasting your pussy? I could, you know. I could set you on the edge of my desk, hold your legs open, and soothe the ache with my tongue.”

“W-We didn’t lock the door.”

“Told you.” He smirks, placing a kiss on my lips. “I’ve missed you today.”

I push away from him and take a step back. “That—” I point to him. “We can’t be doing that here.” I shift my stance, rubbing my thighs together to quell the ache that is, in fact, strong as ever, at least until we get home from the office.

“It’s going to happen, baby. It’s like a rite of passage to fuck my girl on my desk.”

“Whoa.” I hear from behind us. I groan, covering my face with my hands. “Looks like I got here just in time,” Marshall jokes. I groan again, and the room fills with laughter from the brothers.

“Trouble. The lot of you Riggins boys are trouble.” I walk to Owen and pull on his tie until he bends to my height. “I’m going back to work. Love you.” I kiss the corner of his mouth.

His eyes are soft. “Love you too, Lay.” I turn to face the door, and he smacks my ass.

“Glad to see you happy, brother.” I hear Marshall say as I walk back to my desk and just like that my smile is back.

Owen keeps checking his phone, and it’s driving me crazy. “Are you waiting on a call?” I ask him.

“What?”

I point to his phone.

“Oh, no. Royce asked me to help him with something for Dad today. Something on the garage. He’s supposed to text me and tell me what time to meet him.”

“Good. I’m glad you won’t be home alone while I’m out shopping.”

“I left my card on the dresser. Did you get it?”

“No, and I’m not going to. I have money, Owen. You never let me pay for anything, and my salary at Riggins is more than generous. I can afford to go shopping.”’

“I want to spoil you.”

“You do. Do you need anything while I’m out today?”

“Not that I can think of. You should take my card in case you see anything you want for the house.”

“I have money,” I say yet again, wrapping my arms around his waist in a hug. A horn blares outside, which tells me Sawyer is here. “I’ll be back later. Have fun with Royce and your dad.” After a kiss that could be considered anything but quick, which is interrupted by Sawyer’s honking, I’m out the door for another day of shopping.

A couple of weeks ago, Sawyer asked me to go with her, and of course, I said yes. We had a great time and even met Sam and baby Aria for lunch. I assume we’re doing the same today. Either way, I’m sure it will be a fun time. Girls’ days are new for me. I could never afford it before, and really Linda was my only female companion, and one or both of us was usually working.

“So, are we looking for anything particular?” I ask, putting on my seat belt as she pulls out of the driveway.

“What? Do we need an excuse to go shopping?” She chuckles.

“Not at all, just wasn’t sure if we had an agenda.”

“Nothing certain. I’d like to stop at the wedding store across town and look at dresses. Not trying anything on today, but I want to see what’s out there. Maybe they have a book or something that I can look through.”

“Eep! Yes, I am so excited for you and Royce. A winter wedding at the lake is going to be so romantic.”

“What about you? Are there wedding bells in your future?” she asks.

“We haven’t talked about it specifically. He says things like when we fill up the bedrooms with kids and changing my name and stuff, but that’s about it.”

“So, Owen drops to one knee, what’s your answer?”

“Hell, yes,” I say, and we both laugh.

“That’s what I thought.”

“It’s crazy. It’s so soon, but I’ve never felt like this. I love that man with all that I am.”

“You’re good for him. He’s more open and spends less time working and by himself. They say when you find the right person, you just know. I knew with Royce. Sure, I didn’t know if he was there, but I was certain of my love for him. Look at us now.”
