With a last, deep gasp, I shut off the shower and step into the steamy bathroom. Wrapping a towel around my nude form, I step into my bedroom and focus on getting dressed for school. That’s when it strikes me that I haven’t even checked to see if anything is missing after the illicit visit last night.

But one glance at the walls shows me they haven’t taken the paintings from my room; the Dalí and the Pollock are right where they’ve always been, untouched. I quickly check my designer bags and jewelry; everything’s there. How odd, considering that the men were definitely here to steal. That much was obvious. Yet, why didn’t they take these valuables? Were they distracted by my nubile, willing ways?

Plus, there was nothing to stop them after they finished with me. If they’d wanted to lower my queen bed using ropes from the window, I wouldn’t have let out a peep. They could easily have carried out every single item in my room, but instead, they left everything untouched. Strange.

Like a robot, I get ready for school. Thank goodness, neither of my parents are around, and I’m left in peace. I get into our chauffeured car and am whisked off to school, where Jessica’s waiting for me on the front steps.

“So?” she asks when I greet her and we start walking up the huge stone steps into the rich courtyard of our private school. “How did it go?”

My face flushes at her words. How does she know about last night? Oh my god, she must have ESP.

Jessica looks impatient.

“You know, with your father this morning?” she continues, one eyebrow arched. Oh right. I was going to confront my dad about going to college. Or not going to college. Which was it again?

“Shit, I totally forgot about that,” I apologize, making Jessica look at me confused. “I was going to, I swear, but Roger wasn’t there at breakfast this morning.”

“Really? But you were so upset last night,” she says. “Did you think about trying his study or his office? How could you have forgotten?”

I shrug, trying to look relaxed.

“I don’t know, I had a weird night, that’s all,” I say, averting my eyes. Jess looks askance at me.

“Bad dreams?”

“Um yeah, you could say that,” I hedge, blushing. “I guess I wasn’t feeling like myself this morning. I’ll have to try him later after he gets home from work.”

“After work is never great,” says Jessica. “He’ll be tired from a long day. You missed your chance, girl. Maybe you should wait until tomorrow morning to have the talk. That is, unless you forget again.”

I stare at her, annoyed.

“I guess I’ll just have to see,” I say, trying to change the subject. But then I catch my friend giving me a weird look. “What?” I ask.

“Nothing… it’s just—” she starts, then cuts off, looking for the words. “You seem a little different, that’s all.”

“I didn’t sleep very well last night,” I mumble. “There was something in the air. Hey, so did you have your prom dress taken in?” I say brightly, trying to change the subject.

“Oh yeah, it looks great now,” says Jessica with a smile, to my relief. I let my friend ramble on about prom and then she randomly segues into her last encounter with her boyfriend, Tyler.

“I told him I wanted to wait until prom, but he’s getting really impatient,” she says. I drift off again. Getting it on with high school boys is the last thing on my mind; it’s men I’m interested in. And I made love to two of them last night, no less. Two muscular, incredibly hot men who took my virginity. The memory of it makes me smile as I realize it’s my own dirty little secret. Jess can ramble on all she wants about giving herself to a boy, but I’m going to make it my mission to get those men to come back and show me more of a good time. Jessica doesn’t even notice how absentminded I am as she prattles on and on.

“And then he said he was going to make sure to use acne cream for the three weeks leading up to prom because he wants to have clear skin when we do it,” she says meaningfully.

“Um what?” I ask, blinking a little. “Sorry?”

Jessica huffs at me.

“You know, we’re going to do it during the big night. Tyler says he’s going to get on a regimen, and I recommended that skin care line by those two dermatologists. What is it called? Oh right, Rodan and Fields. It’s expensive, but totally worth it because I hear you can clear up bad skin really easily once you start using their products,” Jess confides.

I smile while nodding, but inside, I’m not paying attention. Teen boys trying to deal with their skin problems in the days leading up to prom are not my thing. Hot, masculine alpha males who make me shiver with need are.
