Taking a deep breath, I continued. “Since I was a virgin, I would cost twice as much, but he was given no limits on what he could do to me.” I glanced up at Dom again, not able to hold his gaze. His expression gave nothing away, but there was the slightest crinkle of his forehead and at the corner of his eyes that told me the man was furious. “He… that is, Borris, didn’t leave anything to the imagination as to what the guy could do to me. The only restriction was that he wasn’t to mark my skin or hit my face. If I died, he’d see the guy died the same way, but otherwise, he gave him free rein to do whatever he wanted to do to me.” I could feel my throat closing up, hear my voice breaking on each word. “Everything imaginable to sexually terrorize someone. You know. Like me.”

“Do you know who this man was?” Dom’s voice was still gentle, but I could see the sweat erupt over his brow. “Who was he giving you to?”

I shook my head. “Only that my stepfather owed him a lot of money. Whatever the amount, I was supposed to wipe the slate clean. I think it was a loan, but I could have remembered wrong. I wasn’t exactly thinking clearly.”

“You don’t live in Riviera Beach.” Dom narrowed his eyes at me. Did he not believe me? If this turned bad, would he kill me?

“No. We live in Miami. This was the requested drop-off place by the buyer. But it’s why I waited to try and get away until we were here. I knew this was where I needed to be.” I shrugged. “I thought it would keep my chances of living through this higher than having to travel from Miami to Riviera Beach.”

“Yes. You thought right.” Whatever Dom was thinking he was holding tight, leaving me a bit uneasy.

Dom glanced over my head. “Ringo, I need to reach out to El Segador.” His expression hardened, all the sergeant at arms of his club now. “To do that, I’ve got to talk with Rocket and Lemon.” He stabbed a finger in Ringo’s direction. “You keep her safe and comfortable. And if your dick touches her anywhere, I’ll cut it off and feed it to you.”

Chapter Five

Ringo

“You keep her safe and comfortable. And if your dick touches her anywhere, I’ll cut it off and feed it to you.”

Yeah. I got it. Dom wasn’t OK with me being with his daughter. I mean, I was pretty sure I could get around him cutting off my dick by the mere fact he’d never willingly touch my dick, but I’d never take advantage of any woman in Calista’s position. Especially not this one. Not only was she my MC brother’s daughter, but she was special.

I wasn’t too proud to admit I was taken with her. I wasn’t sure why, but she’d snagged my attention and wouldn’t let go. Even now, I itched to pull her back into my arms to comfort her. It was where she belonged. And that wasn’t me. I didn’t claim women. Not like I wanted to claim Calista. No, I didn’t know her. All I knew was that she’d braved the wild at night on her own to save herself instead of calmly walking to her fate. Or waiting for someone to rescue her. That alone made her fierce.

Once Dom was gone, Calista sagged against the wall. I could tell she was bone tired.

“Hey, baby girl,” I murmured as I stood and stepped toward her. “You’ve got to be starving. Apple left some stuff on the table. Wanna see what she brought?”

She looked up at me. It was easy to see the exhaustion on her face. “Yeah. I’d like a bath first, though. I’ve got mud and swamp water all over me.” She wrinkled her nose delicately. “I stink.”

I chuckled. “Darlin’, I don’t think you could ever stink. I should know. I carried you here. That’s about as close as a person can get.” Then I winked at her. “At least with our clothes on.”

I had no idea why I said it -- flirting with her wasn’t a great idea -- but her smile when I did made me not care so much about what Dom thought.

The beauty of that smile made my breath catch. Instead of the sunrise, I wanted to wake up to this smiling woman every fuckin’ day.

Finally, I let my grin fade. She continued to look at me shyly but not like she was embarrassed. Yeah. She was interested. Put the ball decidedly in my favor.

“Come on. These apartments in the main compound are pretty much the same. Let me show you the bathroom, and you can have some privacy. I’ll keep breakfast warm for you.”
