“It is a little depressing sometimes, and you’re right. Regardless, someone has to do it. The money is pretty good though, so I’ve just learned to control my reflexes and just get through it.”

“If you’re doing that kind of work, what made you enroll in cooking class? They are like night and day, profession wise. Seems like you’d want on the job training.” She leaned forward and turned on the hot water. Her bath was cooling down way too fast for her liking.

“It’s a long story. Let me tell you over dinner.”

She smiled as she dipped her cloth in the water and ran it across her thigh.

“Okay. I’m free next weekend.”

“Nah, I don’t want to wait until then. Come by tonight.”

“Tonight? I can’t do that.”

“You said your daughter was at the movies, and—”

“I know, Legend, but I don’t know about all of that.”

“You don’t know about what? We go to the same school. See each other daily. We’ve even been partners on some of the assignments. You don’t know me in and out, but you know who I am, and how I vibe. That has to count for something.”

He was a persistent little booger. Well, he damn sure isn’t little. Tall. Big. Muscular… Mmmm mmm good! He’s probably the president of the fuck boys, too. Ain’t nobody walking around that sexy without a mountain of problems that comes with him.

“I can come over there and cook for you…”

She hated how her stomach somersaulted at his words, and not because she was hungry for his culinary talents…

“I already warmed up some Hormel.”

He made a vomiting noise and she erupted in laughter.

“Oh, stop!” She chuckled. “I can fix it up. Some seasonings and onions and such. Besides, I can’t cook a five-star dinner every night. I’m too tired. I also have—”

“I can be at your place in twenty minutes, and cook you something fast and good.”

“Why are you being so pushy about this? You ain’t getting any ass, Legend. Let me make that clear.”

You’re over there on Jefferson Street, right?” The son of a bitch ignored her, and kept on with his original train of thought. “That’s what you said in class the other day.”

Damn, he has a good memory. I wasn’t even talking to him when I said that, but I was standing close to him. He don’t miss a beat…

“Yeah. It’s a big house converted into apartments.”

“Okay, text me your address. I’ll be right over.”

He disconnected the call before she could say anything else. Then, she caught her reflection in the chrome faucet.

Well… looks like I’m about to have company. Let me put on my period draws so I can walk the straight and narrow and not do any ho shit tonight. I need to stop being worried about him trying to get some ass, and stay focused on my perverted behind.

Chapter Six

Desiree opened the door wearing an open silky jade robe and matching pajamas. Her ample breasts had a slight sheen to them, as if she’d rubbed oil on them. The fabric of her clothing clung to her curves, hugging every bend and dip of her voluptuous body. He stared into her soulful eyes, dark brown with a lighter outer circle, framed by naturally long and thick lashes. Her super deep dimples then drew his gaze—one of the first things he’d noticed about her pretty face. In fact, he’d spent the majority of his first day in class trying to find excuses to turn around and look at her. She had the face of an angel, and the body of a vixen.

“You’re late.”

Legend casually glanced at his phone.

“I’m close enough. Only by seven minutes. Seven is God’s number, so I’m right on time.”

She smiled and shook her head. He didn’t make his move to enter her apartment just yet. Instead, he was focused on making her feel comfortable. Safe. The way she kept her arms close to her body and crossed her legs let him know she was a bit on edge, so he bided his time.

“She’s an actress before my time. I don’t see her much in movies lately, but I don’t even have time to go out much or look at a bunch of shows.” She shrugged. “So what do I know? I only know ’bout her at all because people have been telling me that I look like her, since I was a teenager.”

“She’s been in stuff recently. Like that show, Power. I only know about Debbi Morgan from years ago though ’cause my mama and grandma always watched soap operas together when me and my sister was little. General Hospital. You’re a doppelganger… crazy.”

“Well, Come on in.” She stepped aside to let him walk through, then locked the door. When she turned back around, he bent down and kissed her forehead. She smelled so good. Fresh… clean.
