He went into the bedroom, and waited…

About an hour later, he heard the click of the lock at the front door. He then heard two male voices speaking in Arabic. They talked for a bit, then laughter ensued. Lights flooded the front area. Perhaps he was telling his friend he didn’t recall leaving the apartment so dark. It wasn’t long before he heard footsteps approaching. He took out his gun and checked the silencer, then stood behind the door. As soon as it opened wider, he shot the man in the stomach. The bastard groaned and fell to the floor.

The man up the hall began to call out to him, asking if he was okay. He must’ve heard the man hit the floor. Archer heard the second set of footsteps approaching and before the fucker could turn around and run, he shot him in the back of the head. With a big shove, he forced Nasser Al Shamrani onto his back so he could look up into his eyes as he bled out.

“Nasser Al Shamrani, you don’t know me, but I heard an interesting story about you. Many years ago, you ran a human trafficking operation. Word has it that you still do. You kidnapped, tortured, and raped a woman by the name of Honey Brooks. A photojournalist.”

The guy groaned. He kicked him in the ribs.

“Ahhhh! Shit!”

“You’ve sold and attacked so many women, you probably don’t remember her, but she was one of the lucky ones that got away. You know, Black lady, about five foot nine. Very attractive. Fought like hell…” The man’s eyes grew wide. “Yeeahhhh.” Archer grinned. “It’s coming back to ya, isn’t it? Now see, that’s the thing about karma. It always comes back, too.” Archer opened his bag and removed his electrical tape, which he placed over the fucker’s mouth. “Funny how you pray three, four, or what is it, five times a day, and you’re still a heartless, soulless son of a bitch. I guess it’s the quality, not quantity that matters, huh? I mean no disrespect, just an observation. Yeah, I saw your rugs and shrine up front. In between those hours of prayer to Allah, you’re kidnapping women and teenage girls and sending them off to different countries to be used, abused, sexually assaulted and many times, eventually killed.

“Now, don’t get me wrong. I know that no religion, race, or creed has the monopoly on fucked up shit. Everybody on this planet, no matter their skin color or nationality, does things that are less than ideal, I guess we could say. Wouldn’t matter to me if you were a White man like me, Black, Indian, purple, whatever. You’d still get this work. I just find it fascinating that you are so religious, and yet, the same God you pray to has to sit there and watch you fuck a woman without consent. Beat women until they’re black and blue and begging for mercy. You’re interesting though, you know that? I found out a lot about you. In fact, I’ve been diggin’ up shit on you for months.

“One thing I was certain of, regardless of whether Honey and I stayed together,” he leaned down low and glared the bastard in his eyes, “was that I was gonna get your ass, one way or another. I had brainstormed what wedding gift to purchase for my bride, but then I thought, you know what? How about Nasser Al Shamrani’s head on a motherfucking platter?”

The man let out a pitiful muffled moan, holding his gut as blood gushed out. Archer opened his large suitcase once again and removed his bow and arrow.

“Honey is an amazing woman, Nasser. I hope callin’ you by your first name is okay. I feel like we’re on a first name basis. It broke my heart though when she said certain smells still make her want to puke… smells that remind her of you and your friends that gangraped her. Yeah, she told me every sordid detail—like how you put her in a dark, musty basement with rats the size of small dogs, and they tried to bite her, eat at the bleeding wounds you caused from your sickness.

“I was really disappointed when I found out that one of the guys involved is now dead, another one is back in Saudi Arabia pretending to be a family man, and the third is in prison, rotting away from colon cancer. Found out he’ll be deceased any day now. So that leaves just you and the one that is in Saudi Arabia, and I’ll get to him eventually because I hear he visits here often. I’ll be waiting…”

The man’s eyes grew large as he polished the new bow and arrow he’d purchased after landing and admired its beautiful blue color.

“Guess what? I’m going to do you a favor today, man. We’re going to turn off all the lights and I’ll stand across the room.” He pointed in the opposite direction. “I’ll only have one chance to shoot you right in the heart. If I miss you altogether, then you’ll live, and I’ll leave. I’ll even call 911 on your behalf on my way out. I figure it’s only fair since you left her in a dark basement, that you kind of get the same treatment, right? I like to be as authentic as possible.”
