“The last time we had a blizzard that was this bad was when they met.” He shook his head with a deep chuckle. “And not just them. There were a hell of a lot of weddings in Winter Falls during the months after that storm.”

“I guess that makes sense.” I bit my bottom lip before adding, “In Florida, there’s this thing called the ‘hurricane baby’ phenomenon after we get hit by a big one. Close quarters and all that.”

“Speaking of close quarters, I need to ask you for a favor. It’s a pretty big one,” he warned.

I couldn’t imagine what kind of help this capable man would need from me, but after everything he’d done for me, I was more than willing to lend a hand. “Whatever you need.”

“Be careful what you offer, baby.” He scooted closer and took one of my hands in his, interlacing our fingers. “It’s already hard as fuck to resist the invitation I see in your pretty green eyes.”

I probably should have been embarrassed that my attraction to him was so obvious, but I was only relieved—and incredibly turned on—by the fact that he was feeling it too. “Then maybe you should just give in to it.”

His other hand went up to cup my cheek. “You want me to kiss those sweet lips, baby?”

“Yes,” I panted, my body tingling in anticipation of my first real kiss.

Hayden’s brown eyes turned molten as he dipped his head. His palm slid to the back of my head, holding me in place while his lips brushed against mine. At first, it was just the softest of touches. But then he let out a deep groan, and his tongue stroked against the seam of my lips. When they parted on a gasp, he took full advantage, his tongue stroking the cavern of my mouth.

It was a good thing I was sitting because each velvety stroke left me weaker in the knees. I was breathless when he finally ended the kiss, tucking me against his side so we were cuddled together. It took a little while for the sensual fog to lift, and then I remembered what we’d been talking about before his mouth claimed mine. “What was the favor you needed?”

“The road down the mountain closed sooner than I expected, so I’m stuck up here until the blizzard passes.” He flashed me a crooked grin. “There aren’t any additional rooms or cabins available. Raven is already trying to figure out where to put extra people who were skiing but didn’t have overnight accommodations. So I’m stuck without anywhere to go.”

I didn’t even need to think about my answer. “Of course, you can stay. I’m not going to kick you out into a blizzard when I wouldn’t even have this cabin if it weren’t for you.”

“I really appreciate it.”

I snuggled against his side with a soft laugh. “Seriously, no thanks are needed. As far as I’m concerned, this place is more yours than it is mine since you’re the one who pulled strings to get it.”

“That may be the case, but I’m not going to kick you out of your bed.” He patted the cushion on his other side. “I can bunk on the couch.”

I appreciated his offer, but after that kiss, I was more interested in taking our cuddling from the couch to the bed.

HAYDEN

Istared into the flames and tried not to think about how amazing Laurel felt snuggled against me.

It certainly hadn’t taken any convincing for me to worm my way into the cabin to spend the night with Laurel, but I’d been right about keeping my hands to myself. It had proven impossible, so now I was trying to convince myself not to take it too far.

Although her kisses had been hot as fuck, they’d felt unpracticed and innocent. I was positive my little snow bunny was a virgin, which made me even more determined to go slow with her.

Which was why I’d forced myself to offer to sleep on the couch. If we were in the same bed…there was no way I’d be able to stop myself from fucking her.

Before she could respond to my offer, the lights suddenly went out, leaving only the fire to help us see. I’d let it die down a bit, so I gently moved Laurel away from me before standing and stalking over to the hearth.

“Hayden?” she whispered.

I glanced back to see her looking around while worrying her bottom lip between her teeth.

“Relax, baby,” I soothed. “The generator should kick on soon. It’s only strong enough to run the refrigerator, lights, and keep us from freezing to death. We’ll still need the fire to keep warm.”

I picked up several logs from the stack beside the fireplace and tossed them into the flames, then stoked the fire until it was roaring. Frowning, I scanned the darkness, wondering why the generator hadn’t turned on.
