“It’ll be okay,” Hale said as he slid his hands onto Harrison’s cheeks. “We’ll get another shot at this if we die. We found each other once. This thread wrapping around us won’t be broken. We’ll follow it back to each other.”

Not if Hale was dead. Harrison couldn’t imagine going on without him, and he choked on the lump that formed in his throat.

“Harrison, I love you. Even if this time is all we have, it meant more to me than anything. My heart is yours, and it will always be.” Hale’s hand went to the buttons of his shirt and he started undoing them. “Now, I want you to make love to me with that gorgeous cock of yours.”

“Gorgeous, huh?”

“I love it. Want to feel it inside me again.”

Harrison bent to rummage in their bags for the lube and he tossed it onto the floor of the tent. Then he spread out the sleeping bags as Hale finished undressing. He hurriedly removed his own clothes and lay down on the soft pile he’d made. Holding his hand up to Hale, he whispered, “Ride me.”

Hale straddled his body and came over him for a kiss. Their mouths melded, tongues twining and Harrison reached up to run his hands over all that smooth skin. He marveled over the stunning form above him, over how much he loved this man. Part of his heart ached over the knowledge that he could lose Hale tomorrow, so he pulled Hale closer, kissed him deeper. He touched him reverently, sliding his palms over his chest and to his hips. He stroked his muscular thighs, loving the brush of hair under his hands.

“Fuck, you feel good,” Harrison whispered against his lips.

“I’m going to feel even better in a moment.”

Harrison growled as Hale came up off his body and grabbed the lube. He spread it over his fingers and reached behind himself and Harrison watched him stretching his hole, need soaring through him. His gaze came up to find Hale staring at him, his mouth open, eyes heavy-lidded. Love and affection filled him and he reached up to frame Hale’s face with his hands. “Love you.”

“Love you, too.” Hale moaned as he lifted Harrison’s cock and slid down onto it.

Harrison gasped at the tight feel of his body, the silky walls enveloping him completely. He pushed up as Hale began moving his hips, his breath caught in his throat. They stared at each other, their expressions saying so much that Harrison’s heart felt heavy. He ran his hands around to Hale’s ass, then felt where he was going inside him. Hale moaned again as he moved and it felt so damn good, Harrison struggled to find any breath at all.

They moved together as if they’d been doing it for years, perfectly in sync, and love swelled inside Harrison’s chest. He sat up and kissed him with a passion he’d never felt in his life. Hale kept riding him and Harrison reached between them to grasp Hale’s cock. He stroked it as Hale threw his head back, gasping.

“Gonna come,” Hale breathed.

“Do it. Come all over me.” Harrison kept stroking him, mesmerized by how sexy, how gorgeous Hale looked as he lost himself to the pleasure. His wavy hair was a mess about his head, his mouth open as he panted, then his entire body went still as he groaned and came all over Harrison’s chest.

Harrison grasped his hips and pushed up inside him again and again, his own orgasm building and when he finally went over, he couldn’t stop the cry from leaving his throat. He didn’t give a shit if the others heard them; all he felt was the pleasure arcing through his body. Hale held him throughout, his own cum a sticky mess between them.

“Fuck yes,” Hale breathed. “You’re so hot when you come.”

Harrison grunted. “I wasn’t very quiet.”

“I don’t care. We’re not doing anything different than the others. We’ll rest a while, then take over for Clay and Lucien and you can bet your ass they’ll be doing exactly what we just did.”

They wiped themselves down, zipped the sleeping bags together, and settled in. Harrison doubted he would sleep. All he wanted to do was hold Hale and hope for the best. But all he could see was Hale staring up at the sky with lifeless eyes.

Chapter

Twenty-Three

Harrison kneeled on the edge of the path, half-hidden behind a slender tree. Ragged breaths shredded his throat. Muscles burned from exertion and his hands ached. The trek up to Devil’s Bridge was less than four miles from where they’d parked and was graded a moderate hike.

But then, most hikers weren’t fighting pestilents for the entire four miles.

The one bonus was that there were no other hikers to contend with on the normally busy trail.

The bad part was that the rocky, red dirt path had little in the way of cover. Trees were thin things with no leaves. Everything else was small scrub brush and cacti. He was covered in countless cuts, scratches, and bruises. His clothes were soaked with sweat despite the relatively cool temperatures.
