“No. But I can say fuck and off, Fox.” God quirked his lip. “You’re not up there in your distinguished SWAT department anymore.”
“You’re in the slums now.” Tech walked past, adjusting his forest-green bowtie. “There’s no goddamn manners down here.”
“So, save the sweet talk for the ranch, buttercup.” Day patted his cheek. If Fox wasn’t so tired, he would’ve tried to bite one of his damn fingers off.
“You’re an asshole, Day. And your whole team is really taking after you.”
Day stopped short in his tracks, then turned and faced Fox with a thoughtful smile. “Y’know. I think that’s the nicest thing you’ve ever said to me, Fox. Thanks, bro. You have a great night, and get home safe, okay.”
Fox stood dumbfounded, staring as Day jogged away and caught up to his partner. What the fuck? You guys were almost burned alive a few hours ago.
“They’re not human beings. That’s how I explain their behavior.” Free stood next to him. “You can head out, Fox. That’s it for tonight.”
“Hey,” Fox barked at Ruxs, Green, and Steele. “You guys are doing fuck all. Come help me pack up my condo. I’m ready to go home, and I got an hour drive ahead of me to get there.”
