And that was when it happened.
CHAPTER 2
VARLAAM
With a luscious body built for sin and her come-fuck-me green eyes, this was no angel who had just fallen into my arms.
Even with wisps of cobwebs clinging to her thick, black waves that practically begged a man to wrap his fist around them and pull, she was an absolute beauty.
Then she opened those gorgeous, crimson lips.
“Get your gorilla paws off me, you fucking bastard.”
Fuck. I loved a woman with a dirty mouth.
As she squirmed in my embrace, Mac cocked his head to the side. “Do gorillas have paws?”
Anton shook his head as he gripped the arm straps to his bulletproof vest. “I don’t think so. They have creepy human hands.”
Mac swatted Anton’s upper arm with the back of his hand before pointing at me. “You know what? It could be his long hair and beard.”
Anton nodded. “Excellent point. He also has hairy arms. Must be that Mongolian blood.”
These two men were my closest friends and business partners.
They were like brothers to me.
I would gladly give up my life for either of them.
My brow lowered. “If you two don’t shut the hell up and help me with her, I’m going to put a bullet in both of your brains.”
The tips of my fingers brushed the side of her full breast as I tightened my grip. “Dammit, woman. Stop squirming.”
“Get your dirty, stinking hands off me, asshole!”
With that she turned her head and sank her teeth into my upper arm.
I clenched my jaw as the bite of pain turned me on more than it hurt. She was a seductive handful. All soft curves, dirty words, and fire.
Anton’s brow furrowed. “What was that American movie? You know the one where he yells ‘you damn dirty ape’?”
Mac rubbed his jaw. “Planet of the Apes?”
Anton snapped his fingers and nodded. “That’s the one.”
My gaze shifted between the two of them. “Are you kidding me right now?”
The woman twisted her hips and slipped between my arms. The moment her toes touched the linoleum, she sprinted. Which was impressive given the heel height of her boots.
I loved a woman with skills.
I stretched out my arm. “See what you both did?”
Anton gestured in the same direction. “Us? You’re the one who couldn’t control the woman.”
My lip curled as I gave him the middle finger. “I have no problem controlling a woman.”
With a nod toward the interior of the office, Mac said, “Gentlemen, we’re about to have a bigger problem.”
I shook my head and gestured behind me. “The exit door is that way. There are no other interior or exterior doors to the office.”
Then I looked up at the jagged, dusty hole in the ceiling where she had crashed through the air vent. “And it’s not like she’s leaving the way she came in. We have her trapped.”
Good thing, because I had no intention of letting her slip through my fingers again.
At least, not before I learned her name, if she liked to sleep on her side or on her back, what color her panties were, and her favorite flavor of ice cream. To start.
If I had learned anything from my friends, when a gorgeous woman fell into your arms, it wasn’t a coincidence. It was fate.
Especially if that woman had hypnotizing, dark emerald green eyes and a filthy mouth.
Mac rubbed two fingers and his thumb along his jaw again. “Very true. But you’re forgetting one thing.”
“Of course, we’re going to have to find out what the fuck she was doing crawling around inside the freaking ceiling,” I said.
A fact that only made her more intriguing.
I hated boring.
Any woman who found herself in a situation where she was forced to crawl through an air vent definitely was not leading a boring life.
There was nothing unique about a beautiful woman who got a rise out of my cock.
The world was full of beautiful women.
But a woman who piqued my curiosity? Who made me wonder if she liked to nibble on something sweet in bed after making love and the name of her perfume—the one with warm tones of jasmine and amber that currently clung to her undoubtedly soft skin?
That was rare.
That was something to capture in your fist and never let go.
Mac tapped the tip of his finger against his lips. “Uh huh. Yup. Definitely need to learn about that, but I was more referring to—”
A piercing scream rent the air.
I crossed my arms over my chest as I threw my head back and stared at the ceiling. “Dammit. The bodies.”
“The bodies,” repeated Mac sagely.
Lowering my head, I rubbed my fingers over my eyes.
I’d forgotten about the bodies.
It was bad enough that we’d walked into an active crime scene with Abakar and his bodyguards shot dead, but only after being gruesomely tortured. The entire inner office was a mess.
Most people did not understand.
Murder was easy.
