Several of his men were already downstairs, enjoying a breakfast around the dull fire.

There was no sign of the women from last night, but she imagined they were either long gone or in one of the bedrooms where they’d spent the night with one of the men.

Nibbling her lip, she didn’t see Reaper, and now she was starting to feel a little unnerved. She didn’t try to talk to any of his men. There was no reason to, and besides, most of his men liked to ignore her anyway.

She picked up one of the cartons of breakfast. She never knew who went to get food, only that there was always an abundance waiting to be eaten.

Sitting down in one of the chairs, she waited, looking around, hoping to see Reaper. This wasn’t what she expected after sleeping with him. She opened the carton to see waffles were steaming.

Her stomach was in knots and after attempting to eat her food, she gave up, heading inside to the hotel room. She made the bed, sitting on the edge of it, and waited.

The day passed.

The only time she got up was to use the bathroom.

Each time, she came back, sitting in the same spot, waiting.

When nightfall came, she didn’t go outside even though she knew dinner had arrived. She was too upset to even eat.

When Reaper did return, she saw. The room was in total darkness, so she saw when he arrived.

He was happy. Laughing and joking with his friends. He looked back toward the hotel room but he didn’t come to her. He grabbed a bottle of beer, sat down, and drank. She watched him and finally decided to just be done with him.

Getting up, she left the hotel room and decided to take off for a walk. She didn’t get far before Reaper came after her.

“You better not be running.”

“What are you going to do? Run away and not come back, acting like an asshole?” She hated herself for even caring and wanted to curse him out even more. No, she wanted to hurt him. To really hate him.

“What’s this about?” he asked.

She stopped walking and looked at him. “Where were you this morning?”

“Out.”

“Wow, you really know how to play the part of a jerk, don’t you? This was all a big game to you. Congratulations. You won. Go ahead, call Preacher. I’ll even tell him myself that I fell for you. That I wanted to sleep with you. We could do a whole big selfie for it. If you want, that will really drive the wedge in deep.” She shoved him in the chest but it was pointless. He didn’t fucking move. She growled and stormed off.

“I’m not going to tell Preacher,” he said.

“Whatever, I really don’t care what it is you do. You’re this big, old, powerful man. You can do what you want to, right? You don’t have to worry about me. No, I’m just part of some stupid revenge plot. I’m the asshole for even giving a shit!” She screamed the words at him, not caring which of his men heard.

Reaper grabbed her arm, and before she knew what was happening, he hurled her up over his shoulder. She started to slap his ass, screaming at him to let her go. He didn’t budge.

She tried to bite his butt but the jeans he wore stopped her from even breaking through to get directly to skin. She wanted to keep on hurting him, but she finally gave up and just slumped. It was useless to even try.

Reaper carried her back to the hotel room. He closed the curtains, locked the door, and sat on the edge of the bed. She scrambled up, wrapping her arms around her knees, and glared at him.

“I wasn’t trying to ignore you today.”

“Please, you were gone when I woke up. You were gone all day. You think I don’t know avoidance when I see it? Believe me, you were avoiding me. I don’t want to talk about this. This isn’t fun.”

“I took you to hurt Preacher,” he said.

She stopped.

“You know the reason why I took you and why I hurt you in the beginning. I’ve known about you all your life. I didn’t care about you. Sure, when you turned up pregnant, I saw it as a perfect revenge. I was going to take you when you were pregnant,” Reaper said.

This was news to her.

“I intended to make you have the baby, and we were going to raise it together.”

“Why are you telling me this?” she asked.

“Then O’Klaren, he fucked everything up, and I refused to be his little revenge slave.” He shook his head. “Then you lost the baby. I had nothing to do with that.”

“I know Preacher took care of it. You still haven’t told me why you’re doing all of this.”
