“What?” I mean how can you screw up something as simple as drying a dish? She just shook her head and went back to washing, but the little half smile on her face was a dead giveaway.

“Tell me, what am I doing wrong?” I turned over the dish in my hands and bumped her shoulder when she didn’t answer. She snorted out a laugh and took the dish from my hands and opened the dishwasher to stack it inside.

“You’re new to this huh.”

“You really have to wash them before putting them in there?” Color me stupid. What the hell is the point of the damn things?

“With the newer models you don’t have to but this one’s about ten years old I think.”

I love how she’s so nonchalant about it. Mom changes around our kitchen at least every two years or so. Her simple laid back attitude made me think of something else I never had before. She needs spoiling. I got a rush just thinking about it.

Her phone rang somewhere in the background, infiltrating my thoughts. I didn’t realize right away that she’d come to a standstill right beside me. Her whole body seemed tense and when I looked down at her the look on her face was one of not fear, but something damn close.

“What?” I looked around to see what was making her react this way but there was nothing, but the ringing phone. And then I got it. I wiped my hands on the towel and turned to go get it.

“Is that him?”

“I’m not sure, but no one else really calls. Except you.” Had she been living in fear of the phone ringing all this time?

I found it in the bedroom on the nightstand and picked it up. I wouldn’t know the number anyway so I ended up taking it out to her. I held the screen up to her face so she could see.

“Is this him?” She shrugged her shoulders.

“I don’t know, he changes numbers all the time.”

“Let’s put it another way. Other than me, who else has your number? That should have it I mean.”

“The school…”

“Good, since you don’t recognize this one I’m going to say this is not someone you know.” I blocked the number and put the phone down on the counter.

“Why haven’t you changed your number if this guy keeps calling and harassing you?”

“It wouldn’t make a difference, I didn’t give him this one.” Okay, if I hadn’t seen the seriousness of the situation first hand with my own two eyes, that right there would’ve cinched it.

“Okay, you have two choices. Either I add you to my plan, or you get yourself a new phone and a new number, which you share with no one, not even the school. At least not for a while.”

I picked the phone back up and scrolled through her call history. “Are all these him?” When she nodded after leaning over to see what I was looking at, I felt my guts drop.

“You need to hand this over to the cops. There are laws against this in our state, he’s basically stalking you and using the phone to do it. Hey, don’t freak.” She’d gone sheet white and looked like she was about to pass out on me.

I pulled her into my chest and covered the back of her head with my hand. Just then a car went by outside, its lights beaming into the room. Her place is so small that we saw it coming through the living room windows into the kitchen where we were standing.

The way the house is set up, there’s the kitchen, with the bedroom right off of it and the living room-dining room on the other side. It’s not even as big as my bedroom, but somehow it suits her.

I didn’t think much of the car though she seemed to notice and tensed up even more. But then that same light appeared again, and then again. It was obvious that she was becoming agitated, no doubt thinking it was him out there.

There wasn’t much I could do, short of running outside and beating him to a pulp, but it was too soon for that. I didn’t want to make her situation even worst by being rash. So for now, I just lifted her in my arms and headed for the bedroom, closing the door behind us and shutting everything out.

The window curtains in here were light as well, but at least the car’s lights wouldn’t penetrate this far back. Even so I told myself to remember to get her some blackout curtains as I laid her back across the bed and leaned over her with my hands pressed into the mattress beside her head.

I pushed my cock hard into her softness, distracting her from her worry the only way I knew how. I always seem to fall into her eyes, like now, as I looked down at her with that look of worry on her face.
