I tried so hard not to laugh, but lost the battle. Mrs. Johnson smiled and took another sip of her coffee.

“Mrs. Johnson, I needed that laugh.”

“No, what you need is to get yourself back to your friend’s house. Slip into something sexy and jump that man’s bones.”

I pressed my lips tightly together.

“No giving me that shy look. Corina, take the situation by the ropes and lead that stallion into the barn. Ride him like a good cowgirl.”

“I’m from Chicago, remember?” I stood, trying not to laugh. “I’d better get going.”

She stood. “Would you like to bring some pie home for Mitchell?”

And just like that, she flipped the switch and was a sweet old grandmother again.

“Sure! I’m sure he’d love it.”

Soon I was racing down the sidewalk, pie in hand, as I made my way back to the small grocery store right off the square. I couldn’t get Mrs. Johnson’s words out of my head.

Slip into something sexy and jump that man’s bones.

I set the grocery bags down on the kitchen island with a loud clank. “Corina?” I called out.

“Bruff.”

Glancing down, I found Milo. “Dude, are you confused as to whether you’re a dog or a cat? Your meow sounds like a bark sometimes.”

The blue-eyed cat tilted his head and gave me what I swore was a fuck off look before he started bathing himself.

“Be careful what you wish for.”

Milo ignored me.

“Where’s your momma? I’ve got some goodies here to make the dinner I owe her from yesterday’s bet.”

The cat continued to bathe himself as he ignored me.

“Fine, but I’m shutting my fucking door tonight. I’ve had to double up on allergy pills because of you.”

Emptying out the grocery bags, I turned the oven on and got ready to make my famous garlic parmesan wings. Slipping the bottle of wine into the fridge, I got to work. I wanted to text Corina, but I didn’t want to come across as one of those guys who had to know where his girlfriend was every second.

I dipped the wings in my secret sauce, then dropped them into the parmesan coating. Stopping, I glanced to Milo. He was sitting his ass on my dining room table.

“Get off of there, you little dick.”

He meowed and jumped off, making his way over to me. “I don’t drop food, so you’re wasting your time.”

Milo reached up like he was stretching and tried to pull food off the counter.

“Dude! Seriously, go eat your own food. You have a bowl full of it.”

His blue eyes stared into mine. I swore he was trying to use some sort of mind power on me.

Looking back at the wings, I frowned. “Do you think it’s too soon to call her my girlfriend?”

Meow.

I started to toss the wings in the bowl. “Yeah, I don’t think it’s too early either. I mean, I did make her come up against my truck yesterday.”

The memory of hearing her fall apart made my dick hard.

Meow.

I peeked down at the cat. “What? It was fucking hot watching her come. I want to hear her call out my name again, but I have to play it cool. Maybe I’ll go down on her tonight.”

Milo did the little bark thing again. Bruff.

“I think it’s a good idea too. Maybe I won’t wait until tonight. Maybe when she walks in I’ll take her right here. Those pretty pink lips against my mouth.”

My eyes closed, and I groaned as my dick grew harder. Fuck, it had been a long time and my mind was going dizzy at the thought of fucking Corina.

No. At the thought of making love to her.

The oven beeped that it was ready, pulling me out of my fantasy.

I quickly dumped the wings on the cookie sheet and slid them in. I reached for the potatoes, washed them, cut them up, and seasoned them before putting them on their own cookie sheet and sliding them in next to the wings.

“I think we’re good to go. Wine. Check. Famous wings. Check. Mom’s homemade fries, check.”

I searched the pantry for the candles I’d used for the birthday party we threw Chloe’s teddy bear one time when she was staying over. She insisted we make him pizza by candlelight. I had no idea that shit was bred into girls, but it was. She wanted to make the night romantic for her favorite teddy bear.

I placed the candles carefully, then grabbed a few dishes and set the table. The front door opened and closed, and I heard feet hitting each step.

“Cheese and crackers! What is that heavenly smell?”

My smile grew wide. I loved how my girl didn’t swear.

“It’s dinner,” I said as she came up the last step. She stopped and stared at me.

“What? I told you I could cook.”

Her eyes moved down my body before they trailed back up. The hunger on her face, and the fact that she wasn’t trying to hide it, made my dick hard once again.
