“Did you ask Rachel if she wants full-time hours?” My twin sips her lemonade as we sit on the clubhouse’s back patio watching Landon and Cash argue over whether it’s time to put the sauce on the meat.

“She wants it.” I blow out my breath. I know Landon still worries about me after the attack. My sister and Cash suggested that we hire one full-time and two more part-time employees to reduce my hours. Devin graduated from high school in May and she’s looking for more hours. I give her first choice of the available hours before filling the rest with our new employees. I’ll continue keeping the books and working one or two days a week at Petal Pushers. “Mrs. Lancaster’s niece wants one of the part-time positions.”

My twin claps her hands together. “Yay. We only have to find one more part-time employee.”

Landon walks over and places his huge palm across the back of my neck, sending goosebumps zinging along my spine. “Do you want something to drink?” He points at my empty glass and smiles down at me.

“Yes, please.” I smile back.

“Good, grab me a beer while you’re getting yours.” I narrow my eyes at him and push back from the table.

He laughs. “I’m just joking.” Landon kisses the tip of my nose. “What do you want?”

I decide to replace my Diet Coke with a margarita, and my sister groans, “Are you really going to drink that next to me when I can’t have alcohol?”

Giving in, I ask Landon to grab me another Diet Coke. “You owe me,” I tell my pouting twin.

Later, we’re pulling up in front of the house when Landon suddenly stops the SUV. “What the fuck?” he growls, and I follow his eyes to see a folded piece of paper taped to the door.

“Stay here,” he orders me and hops out of the SUV to rush over and snatch the note. He reads it, then slams his hand against the white siding. Landon gets back in and presses the button for the garage door. “I’ll put this in the garage tonight.” He doesn’t tell me what’s in the note, and I can see by his clenched fists that he’s already stressed. I need to have patience.

He checks the alarm system and rearms it once we’re inside, then drags me to the office. I stand with my arms wrapped around my waist as he rewinds through the security footage. Once he sees who put the note on the door, Landon swears for a good thirty seconds straight. A sailor would blush at some of the words he used.

With my ears still ringing, I ask him. “What’s going on?”

He pulls me close and hugs me tight. “Let me call Cash, then I’ll explain everything.”

I overhear part of Landon’s conversation with my brother-in-law. Enough to know we’re going back to the clubhouse for an emergency meeting of the brothers.

“Come see.” My twin grabs my arm the minute we walk through the door. “You have to see how adorable.” Hadley pulls me down the hallway. I hear a baby crying and wonder if Hands and Samara are here.

My sister pushes the back bedroom door open, and I peek around her to see the VP’s gorgeous wife sitting in the rocking chair feeding her baby a bottle. “Hey.” Samara’s stunning gold eyes light up. “I’m so happy to see you again.” We’ve only met in passing. They’ve been keeping Scout home, away from any possible sources of infection, giving the infant time to heal from her extensive surgery.

“I know,” I tell her and peek at the sleepy baby. “She’s so adorable.”

“Thank you.” She smiles at me. “Sorry it took an emergency to bring us all together.”

The baby gives a huge burp and we all laugh. “I have something to relieve the stress.” Gloria comes breezing into the room carrying a tray of margaritas.

“You are a saint.” I rub my hands together.

“Yeah. A real saint. Bring my favorite drink for everyone else except me since I can’t have alcohol,” my sister grumbles and rubs her barely-there bump.

“I made you a virgin margarita.” Gloria rolls her eyes and grabs the glass with a pink umbrella. “Hormones.” The older woman looks at me and winks before handing out the rest of the drinks.

We’re on our second round of drinks when there’s a knock at the door.

Rulie sticks his head around the corner and asks, “Is it safe for someone with a Y chromosome to enter?”

“Come on in, silly guy,” Gloria slurs, and I realize the older woman doesn’t hold her liquor well.

“The guys want everyone to listen to what’s going on,” he tells us, then turns to Gloria. “I can see I’m going to have a fun night.” He wiggles his eyebrows at his wife, ducking around the corner when she throws a pillow at him.
