“Do you think we can meet up tomorrow?”

“I think I’ll figure out any way I can to make it happen.” Clint pushed his ass back, the friction against August’s cock damn near sending him over the edge.

When he saw Reese outside from the corner of his eye, August pulled away.

“I hate you,” Clint said.

“Yeah, well, I’m hard too.”

Clint tugged August toward the pantry, so they were tucked away in the corner. August was the one to mold his mouth to Clint’s first, pushing his tongue in Clint’s mouth, kissing and tasting.

Clint’s hand tangled in his hair as they pressed against each other in a scorching-hot meeting of bodies that was over too quickly for August. God, he couldn’t remember ever wanting someone this bad.

“Tomorrow,” August promised.

“Tomorrow.”

They parted before they ended up getting themselves caught. August went over to the bar where Reese had been drawing. Among the quick sketches of the dogs and the outside of Clint’s house was a guy in coveralls, mask, and helmet with a welder in his hand, leaning over a table, working. It wasn’t Reese’s best work. It had been just a way to pass the time, but it still made August’s heart beat against his chest.

“Look,” he told Clint, who came to stand beside him.

“Holy shit.” Clint plucked the piece of paper from his hand. “He drew me?”

“He did. He likes you.”

Clint stared at it for a long time, like he was in awe of it. “Do you think he’ll care if I keep this?”

“Nah. He left it on the counter, so he’ll be fine with it.”

As if he knew they were talking about him, Reese came back in. “It’s not very good. I was just screwing around.”

“Are you kidding me? It’s awesome,” Clint replied. “I could never draw this well, and it certainly wouldn’t just be screwing around.”

August had always worked hard to support Reese’s talent. It made him proud to hear Clint tell Reese how good he was. August told him often, but Reese said he had to think that because he was his dad.

“You can have it if you want. I’m pretty sure Dad would’ve kept every drawing I’ve ever done if I let him, so you might have to fight him for it.”

August wrapped an arm around Reese and gave him a playful noogie. “Brat.”

“Just speaking the truth.”

“Thank you,” Clint replied. “I’d like that.”

August smiled at Clint, wishing they didn’t have to go, wishing he could at least kiss Clint goodbye. He had this fear that if Reese found out about them, the progress he’d made would backslide. That he wouldn’t let himself like Clint, the way he didn’t like Zachary. “We should head out. This workin’ man has to be at the farm early tomorrow morning.”

Reese rolled his eyes, but August thought he really liked to hear those things about himself. Reese had always been the kind of kid who liked to accomplish things, and working on the farm was no different.

“I’ll walk you guys out,” Clint said, and August nodded.

They headed out, Clint going all the way to their vehicle with them.

“Thanks again,” Reese said.

“No problem. I had fun. We’ll work on a few new things next time.”

Reese beamed at Clint, which made August smile and feel all mushy inside.

“See you later.” August gave Clint a wave, and they headed out, Butter exhausted in the back seat.

“I like Clint,” Reese said as they drove home. “I’m glad we’re friends with him.”

“I’m glad we are too.” August would do whatever he could to make sure they stayed that way.

CHAPTER FOURTEEN

Clint

The next morning August texted Clint early to let him know he’d been called into work. He didn’t want to leave them hanging, and Clint understood of course. He had his own work to do anyway. He was slightly behind on his current projects, so he spent the day working toward getting caught up. He had more than one order to fulfill, and he also liked to get a few extras together so he could bring them to Movies with Goats every once in a while to sell.

So he spent the day in his shop, trying not to think about the fact that August could have been fucking him. Clint loved welding. It was his passion, but he had to admit, it didn’t hold a candle to the thought of getting fucked by August.

The next day was August’s scheduled day at the clinic, so they weren’t able to get together then either. Clint worked until evening, thought about calling August to see what he and Reese were up to, but didn’t want to seem too pushy with their time. He tried Colby next, who was out of breath when he answered.

“Catch you at a bad time?” Clint asked.

“Nothing fun. We’ve been moving Vince into my place all day. I’m pretty sure he has double the amount of things I do, and he didn’t even bring all his furniture—only the bedroom stuff.”
