“Janice,” he groaned as he spread her legs wider, pushing into her.
* * *
“Arthur,” she whimpered, her head thrown back, mouth open, feeling him fill her like nothing she’d ever experienced before even as she wondered at her body’s ability to accommodate him. She cried out as he jerked forward, feeling a pinch inside.
* * *
“Hush…my dear. It’s alright.” He stayed still, letting her get used to his girth. She panted a few times and then squeaked as he pulled back and thrust deep into her. Her entire body shook in reaction and something within her cried out for more.
* * *
This was what she’d been missing. This was the thing that made her squirm and shake with need. She arched up her hips, silently begging for more as he pulled back and slid back into her, slow and careful, swiveling his hips and hitting every sensitive spot she had. It was excruciatingly pleasurable and she felt weak and shaky as if her body might implode from the intensity of it.
* * *
He continued to undulate atop her like the waves of the sea, every thrust slow, gentle and breaking against her inside walls in a burst of bliss. His lips continued to work, pressing kisses on her flesh, a boggling distraction confusing her nerve endings and shutting down her mind. The gratification was overwhelming. Janice didn’t understand how anyone resisted the temptation to live in this enjoyment all the time.
* * *
To her surprise, the pleasure she was feeling seemed to expand and grow, ballooning into every cell of her and filling her up until it exploded, her vision whiting out with the ecstasy of it, her body rendered boneless. She screamed, unable to help herself and he kissed her deeply, in an effort to contain the sounds of her release.
* * *
Suddenly he pulled away from her, his hardness sliding out of her in shocking haste. He threw back his head, body shaking as he groaned long and hard, expelling a liquid upon the floor. She was too far gone to pay too much attention, feeling too languid even to lift her head and look properly.
* * *
She flicked a finger at him in concern, however. “Are you alright?”
* * *
He collapsed with a groan on the settee beside her. “I am more than fine,” he whispered.
* * *
“Good.” She smiled, blinking slower and slower, her eyes closing. “I am more than fine as well.”
* * *
He chuckled. “I should hope so.”
* * *
She didn’t hear the rest of his words as her eyes closed and she drifted off to sleep.
CHAPTER 29
Arthur watched her sleep, feeling extremely soft with affection. Her chest rose and fell slowly, her arms crossed over, hiding the peaks of her breasts from view. Her skin was delicately flushed, her long lashes shielding her eyes from view. They could not hide the bags underneath, however.
* * *
She looked so peaceful, he didn’t have the heart to wake her.
* * *
He sighed with happiness even knowing that this, what they’d just done, was only compounding their first mistake.
* * *
If anyone knows…she will be destroyed.
* * *
They hadn’t exactly been quiet. Arthur was quite sure that his servants had some idea of what had transpired here. He sat up, biting his lip with worry.
* * *
What should I do?
* * *
He thought about swearing his entire staff to silence but that would only confirm to them that there was something to be silent about. He sighed.
* * *
“What troubles you?”
* * *
He turned to see that Janice was awake. She was peering at him from half-lidded eyes and smiling.
* * *
He sighed. “I am at a loss as to how to proceed.”
* * *
“Proceed?”
* * *
“Now that we have…”
* * *
She sat up, her hand reaching out to touch his chest, and his eyes immediately dropped to her bosom. “Do you think that you have to propose to me now?”
* * *
“I must. You will be destroyed if I don’t.”
* * *
“Well, I am not looking to get married simply to fulfill an obligation so I will respectfully decline.”
* * *
“I didn’t mean-”
* * *
“I know.” She smiled. “But you are not ready yet. And I will not force you.”
* * *
“How do you know I’m not ready?”
* * *
She gave him a look. “I can tell.”
* * *
“So when will I be ready exactly?”
* * *
“I think we shall know when the time is right. I only ask one thing of you, my dear duke.” She touched his cheek.
* * *
“And what is that, my dear lady?” he smiled, leaning into her touch.
* * *
“That you do not shut me out again. Let us muddle through this together.”
* * *
He blinked at her, nonplussed. “You would grant me that grace?”
* * *
She grinned. “Of course, Your Grace.”
