I put my hands on her hips, gently moving her so her back is to the sink. She looks up at me, the towel still in hand. There’s a mix of uncertainty and hope swirling in her forest-green eyes.

“I find everything about you sexy,” I say with a rasp. “Every look. Every word. Every second I’m with you, I’m wondering how the world just keeps on going without everyone who sees you realizing they just saw the sexiest, most amazing woman there is.”

She puts her hand on my shoulder. I don’t want to move too quickly with her, but I can’t stop myself from sliding my arms all the way around her and bending slightly to kiss her.

Her lips are soft and sweet. A small moan slides from her mouth into mine, taking me from getting hard to all the way there. I feel her drop the dish towel and slide both arms around my neck, my tongue brushing against mine.

With her body flush against mine, the press of her breasts against my chest makes me want to carry her to her bedroom and take her clothes off. Tonight, though, this kiss is all we get. I want to make it a kiss she’ll be thinking about a lot between now and our date.

I press my hand to the small of her back, kissing her deeper and harder. She winds her fingers into my hair and tugs.

Fuck. This woman could completely undo me. Everything I thought I knew about myself is changing now that I met her.

I move my hands back to her hips and lift her onto the ledge of the sink, her legs immediately wrapping around my waist. The feel of her core against my erection makes me into a caged beast. I wrap my hand around a section of her hair and ease her head back, giving me access to her neck.

From her moans and the way she’s grinding against me, I know I’ve discovered she loves being kissed there. I slide my palm under the bottom of the back of her shirt, running it up over her warm, soft skin.

We’ve been kissing and exploring each other’s bodies with our hands for a solid five minutes when she groans and pulls away, breathless.

Our eyes lock and she gives me a slows smile.

“So you’re a great kisser,” she says. “You should have just told me that before and I would’ve said yes sooner.”

I laugh and lean my forehead against hers. “Don’t make me show you that I’m also great at spanking when you’re mouthy.”

Her breath catches. She likes that. I’m about to kiss her again when she puts her palms on my chest and gently pushes me away.

“I don’t want the kids to walk in and see this.” She cups my erection and rubs, making me groan like a horny teenager.

“Christ. You’ll have to quit that and start singing some church hymns or something, then.”

She laughs and I take a few steps back, trying to clear the raging lust I’m feeling for her.

“Let’s sit down and talk,” she says. “You in the chair, me on the couch.”

I walk into the living room. “Yeah. Good idea.”

She starts telling me about the diner’s dishwasher getting busted for manufacturing meth. It’s not remotely sexy, but her flushed cheeks sure as fuck are.

I need to take her on that date as soon as possible.

Chapter Twelve

Tess

“How’s the coconut cream pie?” a customer asks me, looking over from the menu.

“I’ve never heard a complaint. The owner makes them fresh every morning.”

She nods and closes the menu. “I’m going with the cheese fries and a piece of that pie. It’s been a day.”

“I’m sorry.” I give her a sympathetic look. “I’ll bring you some more sweet tea, too.”

“Thanks.”

She opens a paperback and starts reading. I love it when women come here alone and spend time reading, working crosswords or texting with a friend. We’re conditioned to be with people all the time, and there’s often no time left to just be by ourselves.

Cam and I are on different sleep schedules; she’s always up studying until around eleven and I go to bed around nine thirty because my five a.m. wake-up time is no joke. In theory, I could read or watch a show before falling asleep, but I’m usually too tired.

“We’re out of chili,” Deb says as I walk behind the counter, a coffeepot in one of her hands and a piece of pie in the other.

“Already?”

She scowls. “Don’t get me started. The new girl burned up an entire batch. Ruined the pan and the chili.”

Shaking my head, I put my orders in the queue, get my customer another sweet tea and greet the table of four men in suits who just sat down in my section.

“What can I get you to drink?”

One of them stares directly at my breasts as the others order. The guy next to him nudges his shoulder when it’s his turn.
