I awoke early in the morning even before the sun came up. I lay still on the couch, angry. Frustrated. Irritated. Lonely. “Addie,” I murmured to myself. I moved and my body ached. The couch wasn’t the best place to sleep, but then again, Addie lived in every part of this house; in the kitchen where she cooked and made love to me; in the elevator where she blew me; in our bed where she held me. Addie was alive here and I had no place to hide. Not that I wanted to, but it only made me miss her more. Fuck, I was an idiot. I should just drive over there and take her, but would she want that? Would she want the old Daimon? When the fuck did I became such a pussy? I walked over to the large window by the library and looked out to the street below. The street lamps were still lit and the streets were quiet.

I looked to my side and there was Addie’s violin. She was an enchantress, enticing me with her gift. She knew I would always think of her when I touched it. I looked at it as my fingers feathered the body, touching the soft red-tinted wood. The perfect F holes, the taut strings. I picked it up and felt the weight of it in my hand. I missed my other violin. I felt like it was made just for me. The sound of it was unlike any other.

I took out the bow and began to play. It wasn’t my old violin but then again, I wasn’t the old Daimon. I was Addie’s Daimon and this violin was perfect for who I was now. The sound was crisp and clear, the strings perfect, the feel right. Addie picked a very expense piece. I began to lose myself, feeling my fingers press down onto the instrument. I had finally found a missing piece, a piece Addie knew I needed.

I lost myself in the music I played, closing my eyes and seeing Addie materialize in my mind. The bow moved across with ease as I played fiercely. My music was always passionate, only because my mother encouraged it. “Music, Daimon, is a mirror of your soul, the voice that will speak for you. Music is the emotions hidden inside you.” She used to say as she played her piano. I played because music was all I had that made me feel like I was still her kid. Despite all that had happened, she was still my mother and I loved her. I wanted her to be a part of me, to love me, but she was always blinded by the love for my father. He never deserved her. She was beyond anything he could understand. He used her love and devotion to make himself feel better, and when he grew tired of her ways, he discarded her as if she was trash. My grandfather hated how his son treated my mother, and hated more how scheming he was. That was why he gave me the company and overstepped my father. Saying he would only bankrupt his life’s work and he shouldn’t be trusted. My grandfather was right, but I did inherit my father’s scheming ways. That was how I got my Addie.

I played like a man possessed, stopping only because I had to. My heart was beating out of my chest. I slowly caught my breath. Drako barked and I put my violin down. I felt alive, ready for Addie. I picked up my phone and dialed.

“What the fuck, Daimon? Do you know what time it is?” Rafe’s voice was groggy.

“Be ready around seven tonight. Tonight, I go hunting.” I smirked.

“Seriously, man. You called me to tell me that?” Rafe laughed.

“You’ll see,” I said and hung up.

Addie Drunk

“So what the fuck was so important you had to wake me up at five in the morning?” Rafe snapped at me as we walked into a busy high-class bar in downtown Manhattan. I stopped when I saw her. God, when the fuck would this woman stop taking my breath away?

“Because of her.” I nudged my head, making Rafe look across the bar.

“Addie?” he breathed. “Finally! What the fuck took you so long to wake up?” Rafe hit my shoulder as he made his way through the crowd to where Addie was sitting.

The little vixen was wearing another little tight dress, but this one was black and had little sequins on it. Two tiny straps held it up. I could so easily rip them and feast on her beautiful soft breasts. Addie saw Rafe, stood and hugged him, her stunning hazel eyes then drifted to me as I waited behind him. My world stopped as I looked down at her.

“Daimon.” She smiled softly.

“Hey, Daimon, haven’t seen you since the bar.” I faintly heard Darren say. The fucker was sitting right next to her, like he was marking his territory. I ignored him as I just focused on her. She barely moved as our eyes lingered.
