I worked one foot, then the next.

Then, when she made no move to pull away, I worked the massage up her calves, easing the tension coiled there.

When I reached her knee on the second leg, I glanced over, finding her gaze fixed on mine.

And was that heat in it?

As if sensing the question and my uncertainty, one of her legs fell open to the side.

No, nothing was visible, under the cover of the blanket.

But I knew an invitation when I was being offered one.

And, hey, who was to say that my ‘owing her for life’ couldn’t involve as many orgasms as she wanted from me?

CHAPTER SIX

Savannah

Was I conscious of making the decision to let my legs fall open like a silent invitation?

No.

Not really.

I mean, yeah, sure, I’d been nonstop thinking of the man since the moment I’d laid eyes on him, even had some steamy dreams about him when I’d fallen into a restless sleep over night.

But we were in a hospital room.

I was shot.

There was no way I would rationally spread my legs for a man who might as well have been a complete stranger.

I blamed the massage.

The way his strong hands worked loose any lingering tension in my feet, then moved upward to find hidden stress I hadn’t even known existed in my calves.

The man had magic in his fingers, that’s what I’m saying. And maybe a primal part of me wanted to know what other kind of spell he could cast with them.

And, hey, wasn’t it a fact that orgasms were good for pain relief?

I mean, not that I needed to rationalize desire.

It was one of the world’s ungovernable forces.

It was all chemicals and timing and connection.

Who was I to question nature?

If there was any concern, though, about Nino’s reaction to such blatant horniness, it dissolved as his hands got softer, as his fingertips started to tease the sensitive underside of my knees, as they skittered up my soft inner thighs, creating little shocks of desire as he went.

I had to say I was glad my mother had insisted on helping me do a pretty thorough sponge bath when Nino suddenly shifted.

And it wasn’t his magic fingers I got to experience as he reached outward to the side, yanking the curtain closed as he lowered himself down, pressing his lips to the inside of my knee, then following the trail his fingers had blazed before.

Up my inner thighs, making a shiver of anticipation spread through my belly.

His teeth grazed my skin as his hand moved in, yanking my panties to the side.

Then there was just one moment of anticipation before I suddenly felt his mouth on me, his tongue teasing around my clit as liquid heat pooled in my core.

My back arched, creating pressure on my shoulder that was quickly dulled by the pleasure that was building through my system.

Reaching down with my good arm, my hand held onto the back of his neck as one of my feet rested on his back, and my hips rocked gently up into his movements.

I pressed my lips together, trying to muffle the sounds that started to move through me, growing with intensity as Nino steadily drove me toward that edge.

A little helpless whimper escaped me as his fingers slipped inside of me, turning, then stroking against my top wall, getting me to that edge, then mercilessly tossing me off it, leaving me crashing down into that orgasm.

He worked me through it, but yanked suddenly away as the little monitor I was hooked to started beeping.

He sat back, surpassing a smile as he yanked my gown down, then tossed my blankets over me before the door to the room was opening, and one of the nurses came in.

“She forgot for a second about her side,” Nino explained to her as she looked at my monitor. “She tried to grab the basket, then nearly fell out of the bed,” he lied easily. “Think the pain spiked her pulse,” he concluded.

I would have been impressed if I wasn’t equal parts amused and embarrassed as the nurse fussed over me, insisting on checking on my stomach wound before she was satisfied that I hadn’t done any damage.

“Try to take it easy. We would hate for you to have to stay another day or two because you tried to do too much too soon,” the nurse said before making her way back out of the room.

“That was some on-your-feet lying,” I said when she was gone.

“I’m not sure it is something I should be proud of, but in this situation…” he said, turning toward my basket, then pulling out the sweetest robe with little daisies all over it. “Do you want to slip this on?” he asked. “The blanket doesn’t seem to be cutting it.”

So then he helped me into the robe. He showed me the face mask that smelled heavenly, as did the lotion he’d brought. He laid out the snacks on the tray, then moved it closer.
