“Mmm, yes, Sir. I love to cuddle and hug and be close to people.”

It was his turn to hum.

I returned my attention to Jack Sparrow and all the other pirates on screen, and I basked in Colt’s and Lucas’s hands on me.

“I’d make an awful captain,” I said. “I don’t even like rum.”

Colt chuckled. “I’ll take the rum. You can be my wench.”

Sounded like a plan to me!

“Colt is the one and only Captain, regardless,” Lucas added, amused for some reason.

It made Colt roll his eyes and throw a couple kernels of popcorn at Lucas, who dodged the attack and reached for his soda. He also stopped touching me. Temporarily, I hoped.

I turned back to Colt and smiled curiously. “Is that your rank in the Air Force?” Which reminded me, I didn’t know if he was retired. Hell, I didn’t know his exact age. I guessed he was in his early forties. “Oh, are you still active?”

He tipped his head, weighing his answer. “I’m under contract, but I’m not involved in day-to-day ops anymore.”

“He was a Captain when I met him,” Lucas explained. “The nickname stuck.”

“Because you insist,” Colt replied wryly. “I’d beat your fucking ass if I could, pretty boy.”

Lucas grinned. “I love you too.”

I bit my lip and poked at Colt’s stomach. “May I ask what your rank is? I’m very curious about your career.”

He offered me a softer smile and resumed scratching my hair. “Colonel Carter at your service.”

My eyes widened. “Whoa,” I mouthed, completely awestruck. Not to mention impressed. “How old are you? I mean—goodness, to accomplish that—you don’t look old.”

He exhaled a laugh. “I’m forty-five. Enlisted when I was eighteen and semi-retired last year.”

He was a hero. And I was too excited to lie down, so I scrambled up and sat next to him instead. “I have so many questions. Have you flown any plane other than the F-16? Have you seen battle? How many flight hours do you have? Were you ever stationed in Qatar? I’ve heard horror stories about—”

“Breathe, baby boy.” He cupped my cheeks and grinned, then planted a firm kiss to my lips. I huffed and took a breath, but I wanted to know everything! To calm down, I grabbed the candy bowl and jammed a handful of gummy bears into my mouth. They were yummy. “Let’s see. Yes, I’ve flown other planes. I started going through training and logging flight hours with the Eagle before they agreed to my transfer to the Viper. Years later, they wanted me flying Raptors because—”

“Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap.” I couldn’t even sit now. I left the couch and just stood there like an idiot, and he couldn’t fathom the excitement I felt. He’d talked smack about the Raptor! “Oh my God, you’ve actually—wow. I-I don’t know what to say. Oh! Can you tell me if—”

“Hey.” Colt halted me. He looked like he was trying to suppress laughter. And apparently he wanted me to sit, because he yanked me down again. “You’re so goddamn cute right now, but slow your roll.” He paused and draped the blanket over me again, though it didn’t stay on my shoulders because I was almost bouncing in my seat. The blanket pooled around my middle. “We have a saying. The last base you were at is always better than the one you’re at now—except if you’re at Al Udeid.” That was the base in Qatar. I giggled madly at the saying. “Yes, I’ve seen battle. That’s how you skip ranks. And that’s enough questions for now.” He blew out a breath and pressed a kiss to my knuckles. “I love your excitement, Kit. Do you notice when you regress?”

“I was just thinking about that,” Lucas murmured. “It’s amazing to witness.”

I looked between the two, confused, and swallowed the last gummy bears. “Regress?”

“Mm, not all Littles regress, of course,” Lucas explained, “but I’m beginning to wonder if you do. You’re…transforming before our eyes, and it’s breathtakingly beautiful.”

“You’re more relaxed now, yeah?” Colt asked me. “You’re cheeky and cuddly and—fuck, that giggle of yours. It goes straight to my cock.”

I flushed. “I-I don’t know if I regress,” I stammered. “To be honest, I haven’t explored as much as I’ve wanted to. M-Mostly some casual stuff.”

Having gotten to know my friend Abel better since he met the love of his life, I’d received a clearer picture of regression. In the right mind-set, he became a younger version of himself, and it was no act. It happened naturally in the presence of his Daddy. And some of the things Abel had told me…I could relate so well. I lived with the yearning of wanting to let go the way he did.

“You’ll explore with us.” Colt drew me to him and kissed my neck. “What do you think about that?”

“Yes, please.” I couldn’t express how much I would love that. “Before you leave tomorrow, can we decide a day we’ll see one another again? Just so I know it’s going to happen? I…I might worry otherwise that I’ve done something wrong. I-I fret easily.”
