“Oh?” I yawned.

“Mm.” Colt seemed to know what Lucas was talking about. “Kit, you know my folks live in Norfolk, yeah?”

I nodded sleepily. Were they going to ask me to come visit when Colt was down there this fall? It was possible he’d stay with his parents when he had super-cool work stuff to do at Langley.

“Perhaps we should start at the beginning?” Lucas suggested. Maybe he received the go-ahead from Colt, ’cause he went on. “When we were making plans for our renovations, Colt’s parents offered us to stay at their place because they won’t be there. They’re going on a six-week-long cruise around South America.” He received a hum from me as he scratched my neck. “But since Norfolk is four hours away, it would mean six weeks off work. So Colt and I ultimately decided to stay in the city.”

“Then we met you,” Colt murmured.

I cracked one eye open and looked at him quizzically.

He rolled onto his side and kissed my shoulder. “We appreciate you findin’ us a temporary place here, but the day we met up at your house, I had a feelin’ that Luke and I would want to steal you away pretty fast. Get some time just the three of us to establish a relationship that works for us.”

They wanted to go away with me? Holy crap! I couldn’t believe my luck. This wasn’t happening. It couldn’t be. It was unbelievable.

“With some infrequent commuting, we’d like to make it work,” Lucas said. “And we haven’t taken a proper vacation in over two years…”

I pushed away my pillow so I could face them better. “We’d go to Norfolk soon, in that case?” They weren’t talking about this fall at all.

Lucas nodded. “Colt’s starting to go stir-crazy in this hotel room.”

Fuck. I bit my bottom lip, thinking about Abel. “My friend from Washington comes to visit in a couple weeks. He’s bringing his Daddy. They’ll be here for like a week.”

“Oh.” Colt’s forehead creased, and he smiled faintly. “We can save Norfolk for another time. Tell us about your friend.”

But…but we could still get time together, right? “Why can’t you stay at my house? It’s not like I don’t have space, and I really, really, really, really want to be closer to you.”

They both hesitated.

I had to plead my case. “Please? We can have sleepovers in my room every night! And sit by the pool and barbecue and cuddle and be together. My TV is better than the one you have here too, and you wouldn’t go stir-crazy over there. There are three guest rooms.” If we included my parents’ bedroom. “Please, please, please, please? Plus, I have my dermatology treatments on Mondays that I shouldn’t miss, which…” I made a face. “I haven’t taken care of myself the way I should this week. I’ve missed some mornings.”

Lucas was displeased about that last bit. “I wish I’d known, sweetheart. That goes into the daily schedule right away.” He glanced over at Colt, sort of in question. “It would be nice to stay together to learn one another’s routines better.”

Colt dipped his chin. “We’ll have to work out a plan, though.” He slid his gaze to me, and I could tell he was serious about what he was going to say. “We want you to be comfortable, Kit, but we don’t want to tip the scale too much. If we stay at your place, it’s your turf. It’s the place where you’ve built up all your walls.”

“Valid point,” Lucas said with a kiss to my shoulder blade. “And you being who you are, sweetheart—you’re more likely to try to be the perfect host instead of our Little whose sole responsibility is to turn to us before anything else.”

I could see how that might pose a slight problem, maybe.

“So, what I think we’re gonna do,” Colt continued, “is that we pretend your house is one of those temporary places on the listings you gave us. While we stay with you, Luke and I will cover everything—don’t interrupt.”

“But—gah.” I so wanted to argue.

“See my point?” He raised a brow. “You need to hand over control to us.”

“You can have it anyway!” I couldn’t believe we were actually discussing them paying for stuff. It wasn’t my decades of hard work that had given me that house. I didn’t even have a job—or an education, for that matter.

“It’s ingrained in you, baby.” He pushed some hair away from my forehead. “You gotta lose the sense of what’s yours so you can get into the mind-set of asking your Daddies for permission. That’s the deal.”

“Hmpf.” I wasn’t super-happy about this, even though I did see their point. It was just… They’d already done so much for me. On the other hand… “If I agree, you can move in, like, right now? Today? And we can maybe celebrate with pizza?”
