“Like I said…it passed before I even got in the shower.”
“As long as you’re feeling okay now.”
“I am. Don’t worry. I’ll let you know. Now pass me that double chocolate donut. It’s been calling my name since you opened the box.” He does and I take a big bite, moaning at how good it is. I don’t think I’ve had a donut in months, but I suddenly can’t get enough of this one.
“Looks like someone’s got a new craving.”
“You’re thinking what I was,” I mumble while chewing my bite.
“It’s gonna be a girl,” my father insists.
“I hope so. I want a little princess just like you.”
“I can’t wait to spoil her,” my mother adds, clapping her hands.
“Hold your horses. We don’t know anything yet. It’s still really early, you know.”
“Either way, he or she. They will be spoiled. Ooh, maybe you’re having twins.”
“She has seriously lost it,” my father adds. We laugh as my mother pulls up baby shower ideas.
This is going to be fun. Tony looks at me with sympathy. “Just wait. We haven’t told my mother or sister.”
“Oh goodness. This baby is going to be so loved.”
“As it should.” Tony kisses my temple and hands me another donut. I’m about to pass it up when he whispers in my ear, “It’s okay. I plan to have you work it off like you did last night.” I squeeze my thighs together and smile as I take another bite of my second donut. Life is fantastic.

Nine Months Later…
“Here she is,” I coo, staring down at my baby girl who I haven’t seen all day. “Daddy missed you, princess.” I scoop her up from Rosalyn’s arms, but not before stealing a gentle kiss from my wife. “So when do your parents get here?”
“Tomorrow. The weather is crappy, so they are delayed. My mother’s chomping at the bit to see little Elizabeth.”
“I bet she is. My mom and sister just left didn’t they?”
“Yes. Everyone loves this little one.”
“But how are you, my love? Are you okay? Do you need anything?”
“Other than a nap and a good hot shower, just your love.”
“That I can give to you. Go upstairs, hit the shower and then get in bed for a bit. I know it’s not easy. I’m sorry things are still chaotic at the office, but I have some quality people working under me now so it’s almost back to normal.” After the whole thing with Dax and Cynthia who were having an affair together, I had to do an evaluation of all my staff members and remind them that there was a competition clause in their contracts. I’ve lost several clients after the incident in South Padre because they felt my company had too many internal issues. Still, my business is going well, making deals and building new buildings every month.
Soon I’ll be able to take a little more time off to spend with my family, but for the time being, it’s these moments that I live for. When I get home at seven, I steal my princess and let mommy get the rest she needs. Then we cuddle for a bit and talk. I’ve got two more long weeks before I can be buried balls deep inside Rosalyn again, but this quality time means the world to me as well.
Setting the baby in her carrier, I head into the kitchen to make some dinner because I know Rosalyn hasn’t eaten. She likes to wait for me. I look in the fridge and see the label my mother left with instructions on how to finish the rest of the dish. If she could move in with us, I think she just might. Just then my phone rings and it’s my mother. “Hello, Mom.”
“How are you doing, son?”
“I’m good. Why do you always leave before I get home? Got a hot date?”
She scoffs and then laughs. “We don’t like intruding on your time with Rosalyn and the baby.”
“I want you guys to come around on the weekend and we can all hang out. Rosalyn’s parents are supposed to come.”
“Okay. We can do that. I’m sure your sister’s not busy. She just sits around here like a bump on a log.”
“Be nice. She needs to find her way.” I turn on the oven to the temp on the note and let it pre-heat.
“She needs to be happy, but she’d actually have to leave the house for that to happen.”
“I’d say she could go out with my wife, but then fuck if I want her going anywhere where single guys are looking to score.”
“Do you have any good-looking employees? She’s almost done with college, but she’s done her courses all online.” My sister’s not agoraphobic or anything like that, but she’s super antisocial. She lives in her books, but then that’s why I love when she hangs out with Rosalyn because then she has a friend, and they do nerdy things.
