There’s so much cum between us, I feel it dripping down my own thighs when I finally still against her.

Breathing hard, like I just sprinted a mile, I wrap my arm around her middle as she goes limp. I don’t know if I fucked her unconscious or what, but she’s breathing, so I count that as a good sign that I didn’t fuck her to death.

Moving us over to the bench, I sit down with her still impaled on my cock. My own fucking cum leaking all over me.

“Fucking devil’s gates,” I breathe out loud.

“You’re such a dick,” she wheezes breathlessly before slumping against my chest with a giggle. “A frat boy dick.”

I know she’s only teasing me, and normally, I’d let it go.

But fuck, I could really go for a round two.

Growling, I grab her by the hips, lift her up, and slam her back down.

My cock still rock-fucking-hard.

“Oh my god, James,” she squeals and claws at my shoulders, trying to get her balance. “What the hell? Don’t you ever go soft?”

Lifting her up and slamming her back down again, I grunt, “Not when I’m with you.”

Slipping out of bed right after midnight, I look down at my phone and debate the call I’m about to make. I hate calling Simon most days, but lately we’ve been less at odds and more on the same wavelength.

That bothers me.

It’s my job to get under his skin and I can’t do that when I’m working so well with him.

Sophia and I finally went through most of her dad’s files, and I gleamed all the information I could from them. There’s simply too much in there to process. The one file on Sophia alone gives us a shit ton of information that we most likely didn’t have, and that it was Cronin who got it fucks with me.

How did we miss this shit?

Pressing the connect button, the phone rings twice before an irritated woman’s voice comes on the line. “Why, dear boy, are you constantly harassing my husband in the middle of the night?”

I really want to say something snarky to my dear, dear sister Meredith, but I refrain. “Because I get to hear your lovely voice. Have you come to your senses yet? Ready to move out of that germaphobe’s house?”

“Funny, James,” she drawls out. “Did you finally grab that cute little blonde you’ve been following around like a lost puppy?”

I sputter, that question catching me completely by surprise.

Fuck…

Meredith laughs a sultry laugh. “What can my husband do for you?”

Clearing my throat, I switch right back to business. “Tell him I have Cronin’s personal laptop, and it has the connections we were searching for.”

I almost leave it at that but decide to add at the last second, “Also let him know he’s got competition.”

Simon comes on the line almost instantly. “How did you get that!”

I guess I was on speakerphone.

“Sophia slipped it off to a friend before she moved in here. The cops stationed at her house were snooping around too much,” I explain. “Amanda was the one who cracked the passwords. She also knows more than she’s telling anyone if I judged her right.”

“Dammit,” Simon growls into the phone. “She’s snooping around?”

“Yeah. I told her to head over to Oscar’s in a couple days.”

“Why on earth would you do that?” he asks after a long pause.

“We need replacements, Simon. She might have that spark that Lucifer sees in us. If not, he’ll control her in a way that keeps us all safe.”

“Numbers, James. Out of one hundred, what are your feelings on this?” Simon says.

“Ninety-Eight.”

“I’ll monitor her progress,” Simon says, putting an end to the matter.

“Good,” I say, glad that’s done with. “You need to come get the laptop and run it through your database. Sophia’s dad kept notes on everything that came across his desk. He was meticulous, Simon.”

“I’ll be there in forty-five minutes,” he says and hangs up.

Packing up the laptop, I double-check to make sure the copy I made of the hard drive is pulled and sitting in my desk drawer. It’s not that I don’t trust Simon to pass the information on to me when he finds stuff, but it’s always a good idea to keep a copy of shit like this.

Some day I might have Sophia go through it with me and see if she can help me spot anything else we might have missed.

Pacing around the living room, I feel Sophia’s presence behind me in the dark room long before she speaks my name.

“What’s wrong, James?” she asks.

“Nothing that I can tell,” I say. “Simon’s coming for the laptop. He’s going to mine all the data he can from it.”

“But?”

Going to her, I wrap her up in my arms. “I copied the entire hard drive to an external hard drive. I promise everything he ever wrote is intact.”
