“Vetted me?”

I cock my head. She has to know what I mean by that.

“Oh, they trust me to not ever speak of your nocturnal activities.” She tickles her fingers over my chest. “No worries there, I’m an excellent secret keeper.”

Of that, I have no doubt. But it suddenly feels like we’re talking about different things.

“What does this mean?” she asks. “What’s next?”

“I want you to come to the clubhouse with me. Hang out with all my brothers and their ol’ ladies.”

She ducks and presses her forehead to my chest, her soft, silky hair tickling my skin. “I’m not always good around people. You know, live people.”

“Hey.” I press my fingers to her chin and tip her head back. “That’s not true. You counsel people and get them through the worst time in their life. You had fun when we went to Zips, right? My sister loved you. You’ve already met a lot of my brothers. They all like you.”

“Really?” The surprise in her voice squeezes my dark, shriveled heart. “They don’t think I’m a weirdo for what I do and where I live?”

“No.” And I made it really fucking clear today that they better not make you uncomfortable.

“Will Rooster be there?”

I frown at her. “You got a thing for my brother?”

“No,” she answers in her even, patient tone. “I know you say they’re all your brothers, but he’s the one who’s closest to you.”

“Yeah.” I nod.

“And I feel like I know him the best. He’s nice to me.”

“Teller isn’t nice to you?”

“He is. But he’s all business.”

I snort-laugh. “Yeah, I’m aware. He’s even worse now that he’s about to be a dad.”

“Aww, I’d like to see the twins when they get here,” she says.

I study her face. “You like babies?”

She shrugs. “I don’t have a ton of experience around them, but yes.”

“Well, you’ll have more babies and kiddos than you’ll know what to do with, then. My brothers seem to be reproducing like rabbits lately.”

She laughs softly.

“Dex will be there with his girl, Emily. Her sister, Libby, will probably be there too. Shelby’s looking forward to seeing you again.”

“Really?”

She sounds so happy and also…surprised.

“Yes. She liked you,” I assure her. “The ol’ ladies are all good women. They’ll love you.”

“This is a big deal, isn’t it?” she whispers.

“No. It’s just a fun night at the clubhouse. They like doing bonfires in the woods upstate. Very casual.”

“Oh. Upstate? So not your club?”

“It’s still my club. Every charter is open to us. But Downstate and Upstate are basically merging into one club lately.” I shrug. “I kinda like being up there better. They have a nicer setup. Private. Peaceful.” I squeeze her to my side. “Things I’m starting to appreciate more and more.”

She tips her head back and flashes a wicked grin. “Bonfire in the woods, huh? Maybe you can chase me through the forest and if you catch me, we can give standing doggy against a tree a try.” She wiggles her butt against my hand.

I rumble and shake with laughter. “Oh, it’s on now, little lady death. You better wear something with easy access.”

CHAPTER FORTY-THREE

Margot

“So, will I get to see your home club too, then?” I ask Jigsaw after he stops laughing.

“Yeah, of course.” He hesitates. “The parties and stuff there aren’t always quite as…wholesome, though.” His rough voice prickles the hairs on the back of my neck. “Eh, they still get rowdy upstate too but there are dedicated nights to just close friends and family. Plus, they have a second clubhouse now in Empire, right next to Crystal Ball.”

A clubhouse next to a strip club? That sounds like a girlfriend’s nightmare fuel. “What are you saying?”

“The clubhouse is always, uh, crawling with muffler bunnies looking to take care of the guys. And they’re not always shy about when and where they fuck. Or announcing who they’ve fucked to…um, anyone.”

I pull away and frown, suddenly wishing I hadn’t been so eager to rub myself all over him earlier. “Muffler bunnies? Is that the term of endearment for biker groupies?”

“Yeah.”

“I’ve read that before, not the term muffler bunny, but the rest of it.” I wave my hand in the air like it hadn’t both intrigued and disgusted me.

“It’s always that way,” he says without apology. “Usually I’d…” He stares at my face like he’s trying to memorize every curve, freckle, and eyelash before he says something that will push me away. “All I’ve been able to think about since we…” He shakes his head. “All I can ever think about any more is you. Your face. Your voice. The way you feel when I sink my cock deep inside you.” His eyes gleam with wonder.

I swear my heart stops. “And?”

“I don’t want anyone else.”

“Don’t want anyone else or haven’t had anyone else? I need clarification.”

His lips tilt. “You’re not finding this flattering, are you?”
