Yichen huffed out a weary laugh, his breath dancing across the sensitive spot where he’d bitten him. “I came when you did.”

“Untouched?” he gasped. That had to be wrong. His brain must still be broken.

“Mmmm,” he purred. “The combination of you fucking me, your blood, and your screaming sent me over the edge.”

Rei lifted his head to glare at a smirking Yichen. “I did not scream.”

“Xiao mao,1 you did.”

“Yiyi, will you make me learn your native tongue while my brain is still in pieces?”

“Kitten,” he translated.

Rei wanted to huff and rage that he was no kitten. He was a fierce, ruthless warrior who had slaughtered countless people. But Yichen’s smile was so soft, and he was wrapped in his lover’s arms. All the indignation evaporated in an irritated huff. He was Yiyi’s xiao mao.

“Fine. You made me scream. I thought I was going to die,” Rei mumbled as he turned his face toward Yichen’s throat and inhaled him.

“Should we never do that again?”

“No, Yiyi may torture me whenever he pleases. My body, heart, and soul belong to him.”

Fingers threaded through his sweaty hair, pushing it from where it clung to his temples and cheeks. “If your body belongs to me, I have to ask you to show more care with it. I do not want to see you injure it.”

Rei lifted his head to find the teasing humor had left his pale-hazel eyes to become sparkling orbs overflowing with fear.

“I love you, Rei. I feel like I’ve been waiting two lifetimes to hold you like this. Please, don’t take it from me.”

“Never, my Yiyi. Never. We have centuries ahead of us. No one is coming between us. I love you. You’re my everything. I’ve waited so long and never thought—” His voice broke. His throat was too clogged with all his emotions trying to rush out at the same time. All he could do was dip his head and claim Yichen’s mouth in a blistering kiss, just hoping he could understand what he was trying to say. He wanted nothing more than to make his lover happy, but his request left him torn.

Not chasing after King Ash in order to stay safe wouldn’t work. Both of his parents needed to die to protect the human realm. And to keep Yichen safe.

“We go after the king and queen together,” Yichen growled against his lips.

“Haven’t I told you not to read my mind?”

A sharp laugh shook his body. “You’re easy to read.” Rei opened his mouth to argue, but Yichen distracted him. “We should clean up and meet with the others. Moon’s friend has figured out a way to track the movements of the fae. He has a map.”

This was an evil decision—lounge and see if he could talk Yichen into a second, mind-blowing round or figure out a way to kill his father?

In the end, Yichen made him be responsible.

Which sucked because while Sky’s map was interesting and informative, Rei couldn’t guess what his father was planning. He needed to think about it more.

Would Yiyi believe him if he said he thought better after a blowjob?

Chapter 23

Wu Yichen

“No! No way! You said nothing about elves and helping the fae!”

The witch’s voice carried across the driveway. This was not a good start.

“You said you needed help casting a spell,” the other witch added, sounding just as disgruntled.

“This is about a spell,” Moon argued. “Zelda was crystal clear. We need an earth witch to help us. Besides, I’m not allowed to cast spells anymore and, well…Sky is…you know…”

“Fuck you, Fang Boy,” Sky sang.

“But this is an elf you want to help, right? A fucking elf?”

Rei flinched next to him, and Yichen began to march out to set them straight. He hadn’t gotten far when Rei’s hands tightened on his shoulders, holding him in place.

“It’s okay,” Rei whispered. “It’s not like my kind has a great reputation among the earth witches, and for very good reason. Their reluctance isn’t surprising.”

Yichen’s head whipped around and he stared openmouthed at his lover. This was far more than a bit of reluctance.

Rei smiled at him. “If you weren’t sleeping with me, would you help this elf?”

“Hush. Enough of your nonsense,” Yichen muttered, but he still relaxed as they stood by the front door listening to Sky and Moon argue their case. Things had been quiet the last few days, so Moon had invited his coven mates over to begin work on the sandstone spell that would allow Rei to remain in the human world indefinitely. They might still need the bloodstone and to come up with a plan for dealing with the fae army, but they could at least accomplish this small task.

“I get that you’re scared of the fae, but Rei’s not like that. He saved Yichen’s life,” Sky pressed.

“Yeah, and he’s really sweet and funny. He’s not a threat to you. All he wants is to stay with Yichen and live a peaceful life,” Moon added.
