My mind drifts back to being in the closet with him and his hand between my legs. I close my eyes as my hand slides into my jean shorts. I moan his name when I find my clit, wishing he was the one doing this to me. I stroke myself and spread my legs wider, trying to pretend it’s his hand. I grow wetter, but I can’t get there like I did with him. I try harder, getting a little closer to my release, but then my phone pings.
I grab it thinking maybe it’s Bear but then remember he’s never asked for my number. I see it’s the doorman sending me a text about someone who’s here to pick up an order. I jump up, texting him back and telling him to send them up. I forgot my customer was coming to pick up the order since they live so close. Now I won't have to worry about shipping the blanket I made.
I don’t know why I got the urge to make a baby blanket, but I spent a lot of time on it. I researched for days for the perfect pattern then spent a few weekends making it. I put it up for sale last night and I was shocked at all the messages I’d gotten so quickly.
I run the soft pink blanket against my cheek, knowing I’ll miss this one more than most things I’ve made. With a sigh, I go my front door and hope that whatever baby gets it enjoys it as much as I enjoyed making it.
I smile brightly as I pull open the door, but then my smile wavers when I see a man standing there. He’s in a suit and his dark hair is slicked back. He’s tall and thin, and though he’s not nearly as big as Bear he gives me an uneasy feeling.
“Can I help you?” Maybe he meant to go to Bear’s door. He looks like he might be a lawyer, or maybe it’s his agent.
His eyes roam over me, making me feel naked. I take a step back to put some distance between us, but he takes it as an invitation and steps forward.
“We emailed.” he says, moving into the doorway so I can’t close it.
“About the blanket?” I hold it up so he can see it. Maybe he’s the expectant father?
He smirks and nods. “Sure, the blanket.” Am I missing the joke? “I’ll buy the blanket, but we both know why I’m here.”
A knot forms in my stomach and dread rolls over me. I swallow and try to find my courage. “I think you should leave.” My voice cracks as I push the door, making a move to shut it. I’m hoping that he’ll back up, but all he does it grab it.
“Come on, you little tease. I saw all your videos online.” He says it like I was making porn or something.
Before I can respond he’s being pulled back and I hear him shout as he’s tossed down the hallway. He hits the wall with a loud thud. I cringe at the noise.
Bear stands over him looking fit to be tied. I’ve never seen that rage on his face before. Not even when I watched a few clips of his fights.
“Motherfuck,” he says through clenched teeth.
He leans down and picks the man up as if he’s a ragdoll, and the guy’s eyes are huge with fear.
“Cannon?” he sputters.
I think maybe they know each other, but then I remember Bear’s kind of famous. Bear doesn't respond to him, but instead punches him hard right in the stomach. The man cries out in pain and doubles over.
“When a lady asks you to leave, you fucking respect that.” He hits the man again before he tosses him to the ground. He crumples to a pile and I stand there shocked. I can feel my mouth hanging open as Bear turns his eyes on me. He’s still so incredibly angry.
I watch the man try to stand up then crawl over to the elevator. He bangs on the button over and over before it finally opens and he stumbles inside. When the door closes behind him, Bear turns his attention to me. I take a few steps back at the look in his eyes. My heart is pounding as he comes toward me and slams the door behind him.
He pulls his phone out of his pocket and puts it to his ear. “How the fuck did he get up here?” he yells into the phone. I assume the doorman or someone in security is getting an earful. I raise my hand and Bear looks over at me. “Never let him back in this building. I’ll be down later to go over new protocol.”
He tosses his phone onto a nearby table and his eyes rake over my body. Then he runs his hand down his face, yet none of the tension is wiped away.
