West’s deep chuckle crept into his mind, and he blinked at West to find an expression of warmth and joy on his handsome face.

“Baby, stop. Whatever you’re thinking, it needs to stop. I thought we outlawed that expression on your face,” West teased.

“What?”

“That injured and abandoned puppy look. It’s killing me. I have no defense against it.”

Jin wanted to huff at the man making light of his emotional and moral turmoil. “This is serious, West. If you feel that this is moving too fast, I must know. I don’t want you to feel trapped with me. Not even in the name of keeping me safe. If this is too much for you, I’ll talk to my father—”

A blistering kiss burned away the last of his thoughts. He wasn’t sure what they were talking about any longer. There was just West’s mouth moving on his, claiming him to his soul. Jin melted into this wonderful man, getting lost in the heat and taste of him. Wanting this moment to just stretch on and on while the rest of the world faded away.

When Jin was sure he’d forgotten his own name, West ended the kiss and smiled at him. Somehow they were lying side by side on the narrow sofa with Jin’s legs across West’s while wrapped in each other’s arms.

“No one is trapped. This is not moving too fast. I felt guilty about discussing our future without you there, but it was a guilt I got over quickly because the only thing I want in this world is you. I want you forever. I don’t care what that life looks like anymore. But yeah, married and three kids sounds pretty fucking fantastic to me.”

His lover’s words knocked him breathless. He could only lie there, staring at his face with his hazel eyes sparkling in the warm lamplight. A tendril of blond hair slipped to tickle West’s cheek. Jin couldn’t help reaching up to stroke that lock between his thumb and forefinger, thinking of all the times West had touched and caressed his hair. Now a lifetime was stretching out in front of them with the promise of so many more memories just like this one, but infinitely better because West was his. They would build a life together, work together to save his kingdom, raise children together.

“I love you,” Jin whispered. “You’re my wild huli jing. The fox spirit who cultivated for a thousand years so you could claim a human form and find your mate.”

West’s smile grew. “Only a brilliant and kind prince could capture the heart of a fox spirit and tame him. I love you, my prince.”

Jin’s heart soared as their lips met in a sweet kiss. West’s arms tightened on him, holding him so close. This was the moment he’d dreamed of a thousand times, but never dared to reach for. He was the crown prince of the island kingdom of Gaoxing. What were the chances that he was going to meet someone who loved him completely? Someone who was willing to bravely wade into the insanity that was his day-to-day life? Someone who wanted to become a target for the media and the gossips?

He’d never imagined it would be someone like Westin St. James, but this man had faced down assassins and bullets to remain by his side.

West retreated a little and nibbled at Jin’s bottom lip before diving back in for a deeper, hungrier kiss that heated Jin’s blood and left him feeling like they were both wearing way too many clothes.

“How many meetings do you think Qin moved for you?” West murmured against his lips, leaving Jin trying to chase after his tongue.

“Three. Four. At least four.” He didn’t know what he was talking about. He was spitting out numbers, hoping one of them was the right answer.

“So, you think we’ve got at least an hour?”

“Mn. Yes. An hour, at least.” Jin wrapped a hand around the nape of West’s neck and tried to pull him in for another deep kiss, but his sneaky fiancé surprised him by jumping to his feet. He jerked Jin up as well.

“What—” Jin’s question turned into a surprised screech as West bent and tossed him over his shoulder.

“Bedroom. If we’ve been given a rare hour of privacy, we’re going to use it properly.”

West left zero question about what “properly” meant when one of his hands squeezed his upper thigh just under one cheek. His fingers strayed between his legs, the tips grazing and fondling his balls until Jin was moaning against West’s broad back. If West wasn’t careful, Jin was going to hump the man’s chest in search of relief.

As soon as his feet hit the floor again, they stripped. They didn’t even try to help each other. Extra hands would have only slowed them. Jackets, shirts, ties, belts, pants. They flung all of it off in a rush to get naked.
