“I’m ready,” she called and walked out to put on her shoes she’d left in the middle of the big bed.

“You are definitely not a bunny ears cactus in that dress,” he said in a voice that sounded rough with desire. He walked forward with open arms to hug and kiss her.

“You just stay over there, Daddy. You’ll mess me up and then we’ll be late.” She plopped down without a thought about wrinkling her gown. Hopefully there was nothing she needed to worry about. If there was, she wasn’t going to wander gingerly through the evening to keep her dress pristine.

“Let me help,” Beau requested, dropping to one knee in front of her.

When she handed one strappy stiletto to him, he looked it over and commented, “These are dangerous shoes, Little girl.”

“They match my dress,” she pointed out. Maisie didn’t care about shoes, clutch bags, or fancy dresses. She did know that these items were expected to blend in with everyone else. Tonight, she definitely wanted to fit in with all the people at her high school that had always been fashionable.

His hand slid down the back of her calf to lift her foot from the floor. She shivered at the feel of his touch. Who knew the back of her leg was an erogenous zone? Beau slid the shoe over her toes and into place without catching any of her toes on the small straps. It had taken her forever to navigate through the jungle when she’d tried them on before. His fingertips brushed lightly over the skin of her ankle as he fastened the shoe into place.

“You’re going to ruin your lipstick, Little girl,” Beau alerted her before biting his lower lip to tell her the problem.

Immediately, she stopped. Shocked by how strongly she’d responded to his touch without realizing it, Maisie smoothed her tongue over the indentation she could feel, trying to erase the line her teeth had etched into the red makeup.

By the time he finished with the second shoe, Maisie squeezed her thighs together, trying to think of anything else as her body responded eagerly. She was going to have a wet spot on the back of her dress.

“I’ll be right back,” she promised and rushed to the bathroom. Quickly, she used the toilet and tried to wipe away the slick juices that had gathered between her thighs. Donning a pantyliner on her skimpy panties, she hoped that would help her survive the night without an embarrassing accident.

Emerging, she found Beau lounging against the counter. “I thought I had the bathroom?” she asked sharply as she snapped open her evening bag to find her lipstick.

“I could help you with that.”

“You stay away from me. You help way too much.”

His low chuckle did not help her situation.

“Stop being so damn hot,” she blurted.

“I’ll do my best. Come on, Little girl. We’ll be the last ones to arrive.”

In the car, Maisie directed the vents strategically to help her cool down and distracted herself with a complicated formula. When his warm hand wrapped around her thigh, she melted.

“You don’t play fair,” she accused.

“Daddies make the rules, Little girl.”

“I know. Look! There’s Harper and Colt!” Maisie pointed out as they pulled into the parking lot.

“Stay there until I open the door,” Beau reminded her with a squeeze to her slim thigh.

“Yes, Daddy. But hurry!”

Beau moved at his normal pace. He knew it was hard for Maisie to learn to rely on him. She was used to fighting her way through obstacles as quickly as possible.

“Good girl,” he praised her as he helped Maisie out of the car.

“I could get out myself,” she pointed out and started forward, only to have Beau circle her wrist to force her to a stop.

“With me, Little girl.”

Beau took time to close and lock the car before releasing his hold on her to link their fingers together. “Now, let’s walk.”

In a short time, they met their friends close to the side door and stopped to wait for Amber and Rio. Beau laughed to see Amber corralled to Rio’s side as her Daddy protected Amber from the traffic as well.

“Damn,” Colt’s voice called across the last few yards as they approached. “I don’t know who’s prettier—Amber or Rio.”

“Amber, of course,” Rio corrected him before shaking hands with Colt and Beau as the ladies hugged everyone.

“Harper, that dress is gorgeous. It didn’t come from Avondale,” Amber suggested, scanning her friend’s beautiful appearance.

"I might have treated myself to a trip out of town,” Harper confessed.

“It’s so flattering,” Maisie added. “You look curvalicious. Someone can’t keep his eyes off you.” She nodded Colt’s way. No one could argue with that observation.

Rio ushered everyone inside. When they had nametags in place, they tackled the next step. Upon entering the large banquet room, Beau scanned the interior for a suitable table to allow all six of them to sit together. They settled on one quickly and claimed a spot as their classmates approached to talk to them.
