I pulled it up and off my body, and he growled.

“You’re wearing no bra?” He hissed in a breath.

“Built-in bra with my shirt,” I answered. “Bras really suck.”

“Agreed,” he said as his hands came up to cup my breasts. “Are you on birth control?”

I shook my head no.

“Can you get onto it?” he asked.

I bit my lip. “Yeah.”

His mouth came down to kiss the side of my neck, and my heartbeat went erratic.

Just the feel of his bearded mouth trailing kisses everywhere was enough to make my pussy tighten.

I always see adults pour a glass of wine and only fill it halfway, and I’m like, okay, one of us is doing it wrong.

—Garrett’s secret thoughts

GARRETT

I wasn’t sure how we’d gotten to this particular point, but I was a more than willing participant.

My breath was coming in uneven pants as I started to trail kisses along her collarbone down to the top of her breasts. The tips of her nipples grazed my chin, and I pulled back and cupped one breast in my hand.

My gaze moved to her face to make sure that she was still on board with what I was doing, and I found her panting silently.

Bending down, I brought her nipple to my mouth and suckled softly.

She breathed out a shaky breath and said, “More.”

The pleading in her voice had me taking more liberties, sucking a little harder.

“Gee,” she breathed. “If you don’t start giving me more, we’re going to have some serious problems.”

“Like what?” I asked teasingly.

“Like, get your clothes off, let me take my pants off, and find a condom,” she pointed out. “Because I want you. Right now.”

I loved her forwardness.

I loved even more that she wasn’t blushing after she said it.

She truly wanted this, wanted me. Who was I to deny her?

I backed away, pulling my shirt off as I walked on my knees backward off of the bed.

She scrambled to her pants when I was on my feet beside the bed.

I watched, enraptured, with my shirt caught at the back of my nape, as she stripped completely.

My eyes took in her body.

I’d known that she was gorgeous before she’d gotten naked. She had a fantastic body, no matter what she was wearing. So it didn’t come as a surprise that she was fucking perfect without them.

My eyes caught on her belly button ring, and I grinned.

When we were at the hospital after her accident, she’d had to explain that not only did she have a belly button ring, but she also had several in her ears.

I’d watched, enraptured, as someone had helped that ring out of her navel.

Then they’d handed it to me, and I still carried it around to this day.

I wasn’t sure why I’d done it in the beginning, but here, now? I knew why I’d kept it. Because she was a huge part of my life, whether she was with me or not.

Her wellbeing and happiness had been on my mind from the moment that we’d met.

Needless to say, it was no wonder that she meant as much to me as she did.

And that we were moving so fast.

“You’re beautiful,” I said as I took her in.

“Am I?” she asked. “I haven’t been able to see myself in a long time. I don’t even know if I have any long chin hairs.”

I laughed as I finished shedding my shirt, then started on my pants.

“You don’t have any chin hairs,” I promised. “If you ever do, I’ll be sure to pluck them for you.”

“You have a job.” She giggled. “I have to feel my way through showers now. And my hair? I have no clue if that looks any good, either. I just have to hope that it does. Luckily, that was the one thing I never did—dye my hair. So it’s all natural.”

My pants and underwear hit the floor—as did the phone that was still inside my pocket.

“Whoops.” She laughed. “Hopefully you didn’t break it.”

I crawled back over her, this time between her thighs instead of on the outside of them, and said, “Fuck the phone.”

She pressed her small hand to my chest, right over my pounding heart.

“Gee?” she asked.

“Yeah?” I muttered distractedly as I started to trail my hand up the length of her torso, not quite touching any of the good stuff, but still close enough to have her squirming.

“It’s been a really long time,” she admitted. “I wasn’t…we weren’t…”

I bent down and pressed my lips to hers, once again taking her mouth with a ferocity that might’ve scared her.

But in this instance, I wasn’t willing to hide how I felt about her talking about her ex when I was about to be inside of her.

“I don’t want to hear a single fucking word about that loser when I have you in my bed ever again, understand?” I asked against her lips.
