Aria scanned the top and saw nothing. She rolled it over in her hand. There. A number five stared up at her. She lifted the ball to show her Daddy.

“I’ve got a seven, sweetheart,” he said, watching her face in concern.

“Five. I’ve got a five,” Gemma said, drawing Aria’s attention.

“I’ve got a five, too,” Aria said, showing her ball to Gemma.

“Me, too!” Nora cheered.

“Your first task is to find your group,” Bear directed.

“What’s your number, Nicoya?” Aria asked.

“Five.”

“No way!” Aria showed her the five on her sphere.

“I’ve got a five, too,” Maya said, crowding close to show her star.

Jordi looked down at the bird in her hand. “I don’t want to look.” She thrust it toward Aria. “You look for me.”

“It’s a five,” Aria cheered.

“We’re all together?” Gemma said, looking around at all the stunned faces. “The odds of that…”

“Did I hear you all say that you’re fives?” a quiet voice added behind them.

The group turned to see an average-looking brunette with purple glasses. “I’m Violet. You seem to be a group. Do you want me to join a different number?”

Aria noticed that a worried-looking man stood behind her. She knew he was concerned that the group would reject her. “Hi, Violet. I love your glasses. I’m glad you’re here. Come join us. I’m Aria.”

The other Littles quickly shared their names and welcomed Violet into the group. Aria looked for her Daddy and found him with a familiar crowd. “Look. Our Daddies are all together, too.”

“What number are they?” the man hovering close asked.

“They’re all sevens,” Aria answered and watched him smile. “You’re a seven, too?”

“I am. I’ll go join the guys. Be good, sugar lump,” he said before he dropped a kiss onto Violet’s hair.

“There’s no way that was luck to put us all in the same group,” Maya said. “Look at the other groups. They’re all shaking hands and exchanging names. They don’t know each other.”

“Ellie did pass around the bag. Maybe she did something to help us all be together,” Nora suggested. “Remember we just got to meet Violet. We didn’t know her.”

“We’d know she had it rigged if Violet happened to be Little,” Nicoya pointed out. Aria grinned. Her detective nose never took a rest.

Everyone turned to look at Violet. The woman turned pink.

“You don’t have to tell us anything, Violet. Your secrets are your own,” Jordi told her.

“Thanks,” Violet told her without revealing any information.

“I like to build things with my hands, Violet. What do you like to do?” Jordi asked, changing the subject.

“I like decorating cakes. I just moved from San Francisco where I owned a bakery,” Violet told them.

“No way. A lot of us met through a cupcake bakery,” Gemma shared.

“You all work there?” Violet asked.

“No. We each love all the flavors there. My favorite is Blueberry Bliss,” Nora told her.

“That sounds yummy,” Violet said. Her shoulders settled down slightly, making Aria think she was relaxing.

“Group one! Head off into the club. You will find a number one on a wall. That’s your first station.”

When group five was sent out, the ladies hustled down the main hallway to find a new wall where some couches had been scattered just a few days ago. There on the door was posted a very large five.

“The Doctor’s Office,” Maya read the letters above the sign.

“Let’s go in,” Nicoya suggested.

Nora led the way inside and froze. Inside, it looked just like a doctor’s office—only this exam room had an addition. There was a line of chairs set up.

“What’s wrong, Nora?” Nicoya asked, slipping past her friend. She also paused but then turned and waved everyone inside, saying, “You’ve got to see this.”

The man they’d all just met who’d come with Violet stepped into the room to join the girls. “Welcome to the Doctor’s Office. I’m Dr. Robinson. I’m a new addition to Blaze and they were nice enough to add this space for people to enjoy. Tonight, I’m training a batch of Daddies on how to assess their Little’s health. Violet? Will you join me? Daddies, come on in.”

Maya’s loud gasp echoed through the room as the men emerged from the same room Dr. Robinson had come from.

“Violet is going to step into the changing room and put on this gown,” Dr. Robinson said, holding out a cloth exam gown to Violet.

“I can leave my underclothes on, right?” she whispered as she accepted it.

“No, Violet. A doctor needs to assess everything.”

Aria saw her swallow hard. “We’re okay if she wants to wear something more,” she said quickly.

“Thank you. Let’s ask Violet. Sugar lump, are you aroused by the idea of having the Littles see you during an exam? Tell the truth.”

Aria saw her hand clench around the material she held. There was a short pause that felt like forever before Violet answered. “Yes, Dr. Robinson. I like having people watch. That’s the truth.”
